I want a STALKER game set in some Arabian/Saharan desert with a quicksand anomaly that takes you to a secret burer cave full of artefacts he took from dead stalkers (cuz burers like shiny things). Just imagine Oasis having a whole new purpose and the zone being explored not by slavs but arabs.

The screenshots somehow strongly remind me of Battlefield 2 and Serious Sam.
Come to think of "changing climate Zones", I always wondered if S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 would have ever played out in a new setting with a similar background. Like, the Fukushima-catastrophe, but set in the STALKER-universe with the whole secret-ops-C-Con-shebang. Of course, in this particular case, time would still need to heal wounds and it was presumably to early to consider such (although this also still applies, and will most definitely always apply, for the past and present victims of Chernobyl), but expanding on the narrative geographically (comparable to the idea of the different Zones spread all across the globe in Roadside Picnic) is still kind of virgin territory. Although there are some mods, like The Journey, which try to break new ground (which is great, imho).
Also, the devs of LA once released a desert DM-map for stalker for April fools' which I think was a hilarious and nice feat. One can still find it on their moddb-page ("Desert Hunter pre-alpha mp demo")!

In fact, it pretty much is - aslong as you consider the books about Stalker canon. The one playing in the arabian zone is named Southern Comfort, one of the few books actually written in english at that.

Pretty cool, would be cool if someone did a total conversion and set the game in some desert.
Love it. Put a reshade on it, retexture the outfits, weapons and mutants to fit the theme.
Maybe some more desert flora such as wild flowers, shrubs giving it more depth possibly or dessert objects. Rename “Red Forrest” to “Dead Forrest” and “Great Swamps” to “Oasis” would be cool.
Lastly add some desert tracks that fit the theme and it would be a whole new experience.

Anyone else gotten this to work with 1.5.1? Everytime I try I still get grass and dirt texture rather than the desert textures I got when I tried this on 1.5.0.
