Alternative 3D models and textures for the pseudodogs and psy-dogs done from zero.
I do NOT allow using these 3D models and textures in mods for other games. It is prohibited. You do it, I will DMCA. Do not come asking for permission, at the moment I do not plan to give it.
Description
A simple addon which changes the 3D models and textures of the pseudodogs and the psy-dogs from the game. These models and textures were done by me using ZBrush, Maya, Topogun and Substance Painter.
The idea was to remake the entire 3D model with better quality, yet keeping to the original models and lore, and also adding what I personally believe would be life in The Zone for these dogs. I also wanted to keep similar textures to the originals, so I used similar colours.
The 3D model itself has more polygons than the original model, but it is optimised for games. The textures are all in 4k, but if you install through MO2 you can choose a smaller resolution. The fur textures in the 4k option are in 2k. Also, please do remember that to make the fur look neat I had to use quite a few polygons. This means all these polygons have transparency, and the highest resolution -may- affect performance in some machines. However, I have tried it in my machine with 20 of the dogs running around and it went fine enough. If your performance is affected, use the 1k fur textures. However, if you are able to run the Alternative Blind Dogs mod, the poly count is around the same, as I sacrificed some polygons of the body so that the fur could have enough.
The scales of the models remain the same as they are in game, those which are a bigger scale will also be big with this mod, and those who are smaller, will also be smaller. When it comes to textures there are 2 types of pseudodogs and psy-dogs in this mod:
- Dark
- Grey
The pseudodogs and the psy-dogs use the same models in the game, aswell as the same textures, so you will find them varied as they do in the game already, keeping to vanilla, yet changing their models and textures to these.
Compatibility
This addon should be compatible with any other mods that do not change the textures or models of the pseudodogs. This means, this addon will be compatible even with addons that change scripts and configs about pseudodogs. As the only files changed are the .ogf of the pseudodogs, the .dds of the pseudodogs, and the .thm of the pseudodogs. It is okay to add mid save and also delete mid save, as it only edits the meshes and textures.
Installation
Use MO2 to install, as it will be easier and the mod has a FOMOD installation. However if you do not wish to install through that, go one by one on the folders, dropping the contents of their gamedata folder into your own gamedata folder. Choose only ONE of the texture options. You can change the fur textures to the 1k ones, if you want a lower resolution of the fur for better performance.

- 0.2: Fixed a crash regarding 1k textures. Fixed some normal map issues (Thanks Blackgrowl!). Added the option to remove glowy eyes, and fixed eye animations by Barry Bogs. If you choose the glowy eyes, make sure to also choose the fixed eye animations, or the dogs will look very derpy in the game. For whatever reason vanilla animations do weird things with the eyes.

It even has separately modelled fur that still didn't come off! These detailes will make me inspect this guy before I cut off his tail.
I only hope, that you will have some creative energy to add fully new models or any variety ones, because your stuff looks outstanding.

You should probably do something with the eyes. They look weird and unrealistic without iris imho
On the first tests, they didn't glow. But they had a huge issue that come from the vanilla animations, in which when moving, its eyes for some reason move around weirdly, this makes the whole creature just look more derpy than a scary dog, so I decided to keep the glow.

Thank you :) I'll try. I do hope I can end up doing most if not all mutants. This is just a start. I have many other projects, including actual work, but I hope I can keep doing mutants. The next one will be fleshes, then boars, and then cats. After those, I'll probably begin with the bigger ones, such as bloodsucker, controller, lurker, chimera... I'm very much looking forward to doing the bloodsucker, controller and chimera. I've got big ideas for them.
