How to install SSHIP

News 5 comments

For Windows10 users, install the game and mods outside the Program Files folder (especially for Steam users) as administrator and on Windows7 compatibility mod.

Gigantus;15393059 wrote: Installing M2TW outside the program files folder avoids virtual store issues. In Steam you should be able to move your installation outside it after installing.
Once installation is completed set the executable(s) to win7 compatibility and admin rights.

For Steam users, check the following links for additional information (thanks to Gigantus for providing them):
- Creating a World - Starting Steam Mods the easy Way
- Creating a World – Steam Install for SS 6.3 and 6.4
- The ToolBox - The Universal Mod Launcher v1.204

1. Install a clean version of SS6.4. Run SS_Setup.exe (into the /SS6.3 folder). Run the SS6.4 setup and choose Early Era campaign with Savage AI, RR/RC enabled and optionally, permanent arrows.

IMPORTANT: YOU MUST RUN THE SS6.4 SETUP BEFORE INSTALLING SSHIP. ONCE SSHIP IS INSTALLED, DO NOT EVER RUN SS6.4 SETUP AGAIN OR YOU MUST RE-INSTALL SSHIP

2. Download SSHIP v0.9.6.
You should get a 2.73 Go zipped file. I've used 7zip to compress it.
Just unzip it in a temporary folder and you will get a data folder (total size about 9.11 Go and 24250 elements). You just need to merge it with the one located in your Stainless Steel mod folder (usually named SS6.3).

That's it. You're ready to play!

NOTE about Voices/Sounds: If you're running a non-english version of M2TW - Kingdoms, you may get some voices missing.

For those who have a disk version: we're working on a patch. It should be available soon.

For those who have a Steam version, check this post here: Twcenter.net

Don't hesitate to ask me if you encounter difficulties to install SSHIP.

Does 0.9.7 needs SS 6.4 installed or its standalone version?

Hullo! I've been trying to install SSHIP with no luck. I play on Windows 10 and on Steam and, in accordance with the given advice in the installation guide, have installed Med 2 in an alternate folder outside program files. I have also set all executables - the SS launcher, medieval 2 and the kingdoms executable I need to run SS - to windows 7 compatibility mode and administrator mode. I have also tried running it with only the SS launcher set this way, and with none of the executables altered.

I have installed SS 6.3 and patched it to 6.4 (via the version commonly obtainable from ModDB), then run the setup with only savage AI and permanent arrows selected. Then I installed SSHIP 0.9.7. No bugfix is installed - the version of SS is totally clean. SS 6.4 runs before SSHIP is installed. I have tried with and without patch E. I have been very careful not to run the SS setup after installing the SSHIP. Most recently I tried with KCC 0.9.5 installed as well.

I have tried all this multiple times, and with fresh downloads of all the mod files and even a completely untouched installation of Med 2. I am met only with an instant crash upon attempting to launch SSHIP via the SS launcher.

I was wondering if there were any other things I could try in order to get it running.

Hey! The support is much more active for our mod on twcenter.net, I recommand you head here Twcenter.net(Jan-29th-2021) and try the option B to install the "One full version", that doesn't require to install Stainless steel first.

The problem you have look like a faulty installation, the one full version is much simpler and less prone to errors.

Played as Crusader State. Mod is non-playable. Crash after crash. I've got to 23 turn. I'm disappointed.
