How to install SSHIP

News 4 comments

For Windows10 users, install the game and mods outside the Program Files folder (especially for Steam users) as administrator and on Windows7 compatibility mod.

Gigantus;15393059 wrote: Installing M2TW outside the program files folder avoids virtual store issues. In Steam you should be able to move your installation outside it after installing.
Once installation is completed set the executable(s) to win7 compatibility and admin rights.

For Steam users, check the following links for additional information (thanks to Gigantus for providing them):
- Creating a World - Starting Steam Mods the easy Way
- Creating a World – Steam Install for SS 6.3 and 6.4
- The ToolBox - The Universal Mod Launcher v1.204

1. Install a clean version of SS6.4. Run SS_Setup.exe (into the /SS6.3 folder). Run the SS6.4 setup and choose Early Era campaign with Savage AI, RR/RC enabled and optionally, permanent arrows.

IMPORTANT: YOU MUST RUN THE SS6.4 SETUP BEFORE INSTALLING SSHIP. ONCE SSHIP IS INSTALLED, DO NOT EVER RUN SS6.4 SETUP AGAIN OR YOU MUST RE-INSTALL SSHIP

2. Download SSHIP v0.9.6.
You should get a 2.73 Go zipped file. I've used 7zip to compress it.
Just unzip it in a temporary folder and you will get a data folder (total size about 9.11 Go and 24250 elements). You just need to merge it with the one located in your Stainless Steel mod folder (usually named SS6.3).

That's it. You're ready to play!

NOTE about Voices/Sounds: If you're running a non-english version of M2TW - Kingdoms, you may get some voices missing.

For those who have a disk version: we're working on a patch. It should be available soon.

For those who have a Steam version, check this post here: Twcenter.net

Don't hesitate to ask me if you encounter difficulties to install SSHIP.

Thanks for your kind words.
About your game, it depends on the difficulty level you're playing with. VH/VH is the one for which al features are optimized. If too difficult for your taste, you can try H/H which is already not too bad.

Hi,

I'm really enjoying this submod too. Its really maintains SS as an alternative to recent mods like Bulat Steel or Bellum Crucis.

Yet i'm quite surprised to hear that VH battle difficulty is suggested... as far as i know, in a TW game, this makes AI militia level units more powerful than player's elite ones... for example, DeI team (Rome II) advises to play battles at M, in order to keep the balance between units ... are things going different in SSHIP, SS, or even Med II ?
