Change up the way Spec Ops: The Line plays with these gameplay-altering mods!

DIFFICULTY MODS:

Try out 2 new difficulties for Spec Ops - "Here for the Story," where you have a ton of health to allow for easier story exploration; and "One-Hit Hero," where everyone dies in a single hit!

WEAPON LOADOUT MODS:

3 new ways to play through the game - "All AA-12s," which gives almost everyone an AA-12 shotgun; "Alternate Loadouts," where rarer guns show up more often in enemy hands; and "Pistols & Uzis," in which most weapons are replaced with M9 Pistols or Micro Uzis.

Even more loadout mods are included with the "Volume 2" mod pack. You can read about the changes and see some of the gameplay in the articles section!

Spec Ops: The Line is a game dear to me. Its powerful scenes of good intentions gone wrong and heroism crumbling under pressure stick with me today. It's a serious war drama that goes places few other games dare to tread.

That said, it's also fun. Sometimes, you can't help but undercut the seriousness with silly mods that shake up combat in new and terrifying ways. Two years have passed since the Mod Pack's release, and Volume 2 aims to give players refreshing and crazy ways to revisit the classic shooter!

Not pictured: Walker about to die to a random M32 MGL projectile.

Mod Pack Volume 2 contains no difficulty changes this time around (though a few ideas were tossed around, admittedly). Instead, it introduces 4 mods for the game's DefaultPawn.ini configuration file, each one altering the weapon loadouts of allies and enemies in varying ways!

Let's go down the list and see what's waiting for fans of Spec Ops this time around...

Automatics will quickly run out of ammo here - better grab a revolver or shotgun...

Wild West: Enter an age of six-shooters, shotguns, and bolt-action rifles with this setup! Your squad and enemies will be mostly limited to the 44 Magnum, W1300 Shotgun, Scout Tactical, and M99 Barrett. Gunfire is less frequent but much deadlier here.

Danger Close.

Mad Bomber: Almost every gun carried by an enemy is an M32 MGL, RPG, or SCAR. Accuracy matters less when most projectiles are explosive! Expect to see plenty of body parts flying with this setup active.

What too much Battlefield 2 does to a guy.

Euro Force: The future of warfare is all about bullpups and fast fire rates. Most enemies carry either the FAMAS or P90, with the M9A1 as their sidearms. Adams uses the P90, while Lugo has the FAMAS.

The Uzi's a stretch, but the US Army has used it in prior conflicts...

Accurate Arsenal: Tries to keep each faction's loadout as close to their real-life counterparts as possible. More info is listed in the text file included with these mods.

The specific weapons each faction uses with the last mod are listed in a separate text document in the mod's folder. If you want to know what to expect going into it, you'll find all the info there. There will be some surprises in store for players that get through the tougher levels of the game, believe that!

Walker tried to save him.

I had a blast testing these out and making sure they worked well. Not all of them are viable on higher difficulties, especially the Mad Bomber loadout mod. Still, they're sure to give you a run for your money if you think you've mastered Spec Ops backwards and forwards.

I hope you enjoy revisiting this great game as much as I did!

I really like this idea of having a set loadout to play for the campaign. Speaking off, are there plans to mod in the multiplayer weapons into the single player?
