Situation Outbreak is an Orange Box mod about the impending zombie apocalypse. Armed with nothing but a 9mm and a pair of brass knuckles, you must do whatever it takes to survive against the thousands of zombies that used to be your friends and neighbors. The cost of failure is nothing less than your free will. There are no heroes. No single person can save the world and there are not enough bullets to go around. The only thing left to do is to kill the damned, hoping that you don’t end up like them.
This video shows off some of the latest features we've been working on as well as some improvements to zms_ho_canals. The list below is in chronological order of appearance in the video for your viewing convenience.
X New optional buyzone system for mappers.
X More intense and realistic blood effects.
X Flood gate override button for zms_ho_canals.
X Random weapon spawns for mappers.
X New melee weapon: the cleaver.
X New zone near the holdout point for zms_ho_canals.
Cool. I like it. It's look grate.
what he meant to say was:
Cool, I like it! It looks great.
Yea -.-
I suggest three things: 1. make your own zombie attacking, moving, and general behaviour animations. Nobody's impressed that the hands of all the zombies are stolen from half-life 2.
2. Add more "reloading" voice clips, or get rid of them. Even just when watching the video, it got annoying due to extreme repetition.
3. This one's nowhere near as big as the other two, but some more varied melee animations would be nice too, especially if some were different depending on the kind of weapon. Having your character act as though they have a crowbar in their hand even with something like a meat cleaver or a combat knife isn't too immersive. You could even just steal the animations from Counter-Strike.
Other than that, though, this is shaping up to be really kick-***, especially in multiplayer. Keep up the good work!
1. This is well beyond the capabilities of the team right now. We have no player animator, which is why we're still using the same zombie animations Valve did with HL2. Once we get a player animator aboard, we shouldn't have a problem replacing those animations.
2. Agreed - to an extent. It's good if a player knows that their nearby teammate is reloading so that they know when/if to cover him or her, but I do think that we overdid it a little with the sounds. Perhaps I'll give it a minimum of 10 seconds before it plays again so that it doesn't get annoying. We plan on replacing those sounds anyway later on in development.
3. Initially, all melee weapons will be using the same HL2 crowbar-ish animations - with some tweaks, of course. This is just so we can get v1.50 in time. After v1.50 is out, we'll start customizing those animations. However, besides the melee weapons, every other new weapon for the mod will include its own animation set, created and compiled by me. =P ... you've already seen some of that in our last couple of videos.
Thanks for your comments. =D
Well, I am not sure what he'll say of this, but why not to ask maybe Dec1234 to help with your animations. That is if he's not too busy or willing to help.
But anyway i have seen where you guys are going with this mod, and i am totally in love with it. Keep up the good work!
Why a zombie has 2 types of blood? xD
I see red and green blood there D:
Different parts of the body spew different types of blood when you shoot them. That's zombie 101, don't-cha know! =P
Cool great . I like this mod ! like it alot
Ingame the "Browning High Power" looks more like a Fiveseven.
maybe add weapons can cutting heads or arms
Looks cool....are all melee weapons a 1 hit kill?
Not all of them, but most of them. That's what makes melee weapons worth using.
looks awesome, the best zombie mod
Wrong.
this does look good but it will not be in the same league as the moretwood plaza. which has renders so the game doesn't lag when there are a million zombies. I like the realistic aspect of this mod though. they just need to retexture the zombies.
Morewood Plaza isn't even out yet, where this mod is, so I'd say that at the moment - if you are indeed deciding between the two - this wins. =P
dude don't do that. the mortewod plaza is: A. A one teammember mod B. has new hands and about a hundred new weapons. gibbing which I found hwo to do aswell. and has renders so the you don't lag when the zombies start spawning. I don't care is it isn't out and don't say you're mod'll be better it isn't right. I still love the look of it though.
So it's not right for me to say that ZM:S is better even though you're the one who started this conversation by saying Mortwood Plaza is better? How does that work exactly?
like this... Nobody should say any mod is the best mod ever because it's obvious that black mesa if the one everyone is looking forward to.
it is a shop in 00:11?
maybe made a new design for a box
