A mod for Hexen 2 that adds weapon altfires, stat upgrades, and various balance tweaks, effects, bugfixes, & new features for mappers. This fork is based on the Shadows Of Chaos mod/mapset by Bloodshot, which is in turn based on the Game Of Tomes mod. Detailed description, credits, & instructions included in readme file.
Unzip the contents into your Hexen 2 directory such that all .exe and .dll files are overwritten. To play, use the included .bat file or otherwise launch the game with the "-game soc" command. You can replay the vanilla game and user maps with the mod, or create new maps using the mod's various features. There are also a few releases that require the mod and use its' features. Install them into the mod's folder, without allowing any overwriting. The only conflict is that they include different Strings.txt, which you'll need to manage. If you download the SoC demo hub, rename the "demo1.bsp" and "demo1.lit" files to any other name, such as "vil1.bsp", because the name conflicts with a file in this mod.

Changes since 1.28:
Gameplay: Changed bindings for mod stats and options menu (now uses previous/next weapon and fire/altfire keys); SoC's new flying enemies use new flying AI and will attempt to fly above you instead of staying at your height (makes fighting them feel better); Fall damage now works as you would expect (exponential based on fall distance) and your character screams if you fall too far; Players get 6 stat points per level (down from 8); Tomed Ice Mace debuffed; Respawning delay decreased
Mapping features: Misc_model can do so much it should be called "misc_object" - can now be translucent, pushable, spawn custom gibs/chunks if broken, and toggled off; Changed misc_model "Scale XY only" spawnflag number to avoid conflicting with "Remove for Paladin" universal spawnflag; Added "color" option to cloth type breakable objects so you can use custom colored chunks instead of default red cloth; Fallen Angels can follow path_corners
Fixes: New SoC enemies pathing AI improved across the board by connecting them to the vanilla waypoints system (I assumed they were already, but nope!); Tomed Meteor Staff tornado won't go through walls or make enemies stuck in walls, accounts for enemy size/mass, and doesnt disappear instantly when duration is over; Tomed Ice Mace won't glitch enemies it freezes and doesn't disappear instantly when duration is over; Assassin crossbow bolts won't stick in translucent enemies (eg. Fallen Angel, Dark Bishop); Demoness flames won't keep burning Skull Wizards when they teleport; Demoness Acid Orb damage scales with wisdom; Demoness Acid Orb animation made smoother; Demoness Flame Orb damage decreased; Added impact sound for Iron Golem missiles and increased their missile attack chance; Fallen Angel beam can't be avoided by standing behind chest-high cover; Bishop movement speed lowered; Skull Wizard balance tweak; Skull Wizard won't raise his own spiders to life after you kill them; Skull Wizards teleport to ground level instead of floating slightly above ground (vanilla bug); Skull Wizard death sequence improved; Buried Reivers won't re-do sight animation after killing player; Buried Reivers arent blocked from spawning as easily; Maulotaurs won't wander randomly after killing player; Monsters spawned in won't attack immediately after spawning; Imps spawned in will do their swoop/charge attack correctly; Pushable brushes can be walked on properly; func_train's can be toggled on/off properly; Book props spawn paper when destroyed instead of stone chunks; Barrels in water bob pleasantly instead of spastically
