One of the most highly anticipated releases of 1997, HeXen II was the first game from an outside developer to ship with Quake engine technology. The game featured four single player hubs and deathmatch capabilities for 16 players while simultaneously offering four character classes, each with four weapons with dual fire modes for a total of 32 unique weapon effects. In addition, HeXen II was the first 3-D shooter to feature transparent water effects in both hardware and software rendering modes and one of the only fully 3-D games to feature single player cooperative gameplay. Modified much like its original this game has stood the test of time and has quite a few nifty mods to show for it

To play, unzip contents into your Hexen 2 folder (such that a new folder called "soc" is created and all .exe & .dll files are overwritten) and open the included bat file. If you want to change your class or skill level, start a new game with your preferences and then type "map ws_egyp1" in the console.
If you wish to learn about the mod (such as how to rebind altfires), consult readme_mod.txt.
If you experience graphical errors upon loading the map, check your config.cfg file and set "gl_ztrick" is "0". If the engine crashes upon loading the map, set "gl_multitexture" to "0".
If you want more Hexen II content using Shadows Of Chaos, play the original demo. However, since this version has various bugfixes, I recommend copying just the demo's maps and music folders (not the progs.dat, models, etc) into this installation.
