A mod for Hexen 2 that adds weapon altfires, stat upgrades, and various balance tweaks, effects, bugfixes, & new features for mappers. This fork is based on the Shadows Of Chaos mod/mapset by Bloodshot, which is in turn based on the Game Of Tomes mod. Detailed description, credits, & instructions included in readme file.
Unzip the contents into your Hexen 2 directory so that there is a folder sibling to the data1 folder. To play, use the included .bat file or otherwise launch the game with the "-game [folder name]" command. You can replay the vanilla game and user maps with the mod, or create new maps using the mod's various features. There are also a few releases that require the mod and use its' features. Install them into the mod's folder, without allowing any overwriting. The only conflict is that they include different Strings.txt, which you'll need to manage. If you don't plan on reading or modifying the mod's code, delete the "src" source code folder. If you download the SoC demo hub, rename the "demo1.bsp" and "demo1.lit" files to any other name, such as "vil1.bsp", because the name conflicts with a file in this mod.

Mapping features: Backport func_train_mp and func_plat_mp from expansion pack to base game; implement waketarget feature for trains; Add non-solid and trigger animation spawnflags to func_train_mp; Add silent soundtype to func_newplat; Triggers with soundtype "-1" will not make a sound when printing a message; obj_statue_snake_coil can be scaled; Golems can be statues in base or expansion versions, can be dormant or active while statues, and use unused statue pose; Changed "spawn quiet" and "don't morph" monster spawnflag numbers and "player or monster touch" trigger spawnflags because they conflicted with undocumented "not in coop" & "not in singleplayer" spawnflags

Like it's been said in the comments for earlier versions. This mod don't seem to work with the normal version of Hammer of Thyrion. (I'm getting missing models errors and stuff.) It seems to require the shanjaq version that is linked in the description wich works fine.
Nice with a stand alone version btw.
In your opinion which mod is better? Shadows of Chaos or Hammer of Thyrion?

Hammer of Thyrion is used to get Hexen II to run better and give you some more settings.
This version of Shadows of Chaos is a mod that gives you more gameplay features.
what's the differnce between normal and expansion downloads?
The expansion version supports the Hexen II expansion pack (Portal Of Praevus)

I use hexen2_20190330.exe version from Hexenworld.org for core game.
Its have old demo version Shadows of Chaos(played correctly)
I download new SoC v1.28, correctly unzip ans create bat-file, but recieve this error
"Host_Error. Model *1 not found"
Can anybody help me?
it seems to be an issue with the Steam version of the game the gog version gives that same error but still loads
