Here it is, the 1.5 release for Roar of Conquest! There are a whole host of changes from version 1.1, which I go into detail here: Moddb.com To give credit where it is due, my mod incorporates, (and has changed), the following mods:
- Stainless Steel 6.4
- Meloo Fix 1.27
- Regional Knight Orders For All, which I have incorporated into the campaign balance side of things.
The upside to this mod is that if you follow my installation instructions, (which I will provide below), you will be able to have both Roar of Conquest and Stainless Steel 6.4 as separate mods in the game, if you so wish! Now, you can switch between my submod and the original at will! Hopefully this will help compensate the fact that I have removed the launcher menu in Roar of Conquest that Stainless Steel 6.4 had. However, this separation and the removal of the launcher menu means you will no longer have to worry about picking the right settings in the launcher to make my mod work. It will also make it much easier for me to make changes and continue modding Roar of Conquest, so there are some positives.
Please note that if you have installed Roar of Conquest 1.1, this file will serve as a replacement; it will not update your previous version of Roar of Conquest. My recommendation would be to delete version 1.1 before installing version 1.5, if for no other reason than to save disk space on your computer.
If you have read this far, I'm sure you are bored silly by now; so enough tongue-wagging, onto the instructions!
Installation Guide
1) After downloading Roar of Conquest, unzip the folder.
2) When you have unzipped the folder, find the location of your mod folder in Medieval II Total War on your computer. It should look something like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods
3) Drag the Roar of Conquest folder into the mod location in Medieval II. Once you're done, the file location should look like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods\Roar of Conquest 1.1
4) When you open Roar of Conquest 1.1 in it's location, you will find a shortcut already up and ready to use! just drag it out onto your desktop and it will launch the game, provided you have done the following:
- Go into you Medieval II folder, C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War, and scroll down until you find a file marked medieval2 and listed as the file type application.
- Right click on it and select the option "create copy", then paste the copy in the same location.
- Right click on the copy to rename it, and type in the new name kingdoms.
- Viola, the mod will now work! For a more visual presentation on how to do this, watch this video here starting at the 6:00 minute mark: Youtube.com. While this video is talking about a different mod, his guide for making it work applies to all mods for Medieval II Kingdoms, not just the ones here refers to in the video.
And now you are done! I hope you enjoy the game and that this download will help make the lives of you, the audience, much easier than the previous installation.
Note: if you see the loading screen with the Stainless Steel logo, you are not playing Roar of Conquest. If you have a selection screen to choose between 1100 and 1220 start date, you are not playing Roar of Conquest; you can only start in 1220 with my mod. Make sure you are playing Roar of Conquest before bringing up any technical difficulties with the campaign. For installation instructions, click the "Read More..." button in the description slot. Thanks ahead of time!
Mod works fine. Thanks :)
Epic! Ty
Looks nice, thank you for this mod :)
Love the mod so far! Runs very smoothly and only crashed once so far. Only big problem I've encountered so far is that enemy AI factions don't sire an heir often enough and are vulnerable to being wiped out as a faction.
I'm about 70 turns in and most factions have had been unable to sire an heir and had dynasty changes. About 5 factions have been wiped out due to this bug so far.
Otherwise great mod!
Glad to hear you're enjoying it so far! I am sorry to hear about the faction wipe-out due to lack of heirs. It's a problem that goes back to vanilla Medieval II, unfortunately. The original Stainless Steel team had a system which spawns family members automatically when the faction starts to run low, and it still exists in Roar of Conquest. Unfortunately, it can only do so much and faction wipe-out is still a problem. I'm afraid I don't have any solutions to get rid of it, due to the limitations of Medieval II. If you come across any suggestions though, I'd love to hear it!
Great game. When I conquer Pamplona with Portugal it gives me a run time error "pure virtual function call". I already tried to solve this problem but I couldn't find a solution that worked.
It sounds like some files got corrupted. If it persists, you may need a fresh install of the mod, unfortunately. :(
Do i need only this to play or i need to have Stainless Steel 6.4?
You do not need Stainless Steel 6.4, only this download.
