By 24 ABY, Deathwatch was long gone. There were still individuals and perhaps very small pockets of Mandalorians who proclaimed to be members of the clan...but as a unified group, they were over.
As stated on the Wiki page, Kal Skirata (a True Mandalorian) felt that the Death Watch—at least its incarnation under Tor Vizsla—was more interested in theft and other crime rather than their supposed goals of reinstating a Mandalorian empire. In other words, they lost sight of their goal and reduced themselves to crime, using their "mission" as a guise under which to operate. Fett is a bit more disciplined and won't tolerate this kind of distraction.
Within the framework of the lore I am creating for the mod, old survivors of Deathwatch or perhaps those who sympathized with them will eventually find a home within Boba's reorganized Mandalorian society...as long as they prescribe themselves to the TRUE and original aspirations of their former clan.
Boba's vision here is to, in a sense, fulfill the original mission of Deathwatch; to reunite the Mandalorian peoples and to build them back up as a respected civilization of warriors, rather than be seen as criminals, thugs, and mercenaries with no real leadership. Mandalorians who operate independently and participate in criminal activity have one chance to change and help further the mission...or they will be considered enemies and no longer Mandalorian.
Secondary to that, but only by a small margin, Boba seeks to finally put an end to the conflict between the Empire and New Republic and maintain peace in the galaxy (not pacifism like is portrayed in the Clone Wars series. That's different than aiming for peace).
However, we all know that only a handful of years after 30ABY, the Vong invasion begins, which changes everything. This mod does not go into that invasion or depict it in any way but instead focuses on the years prior, in which the previously stated goals are uninhibited by extra-galactic invaders.
So, the short answer is no. However, if you consider the above and realize that Boba is uniting the clans, then in a way Deathwatch is indeed in the mod...but not as an independent faction. Mandalorians fly under one banner now; Boba's.
Good. I never liked those filthy criminals. :D
How dare you say criminals... They follow the ways of the Mandalorians.
They've perverted the ways of the Mandalorians... They are worse than criminals, they are bereft of all honor... Even thieves have a code.
yeah steal everything not nailed down :P
The Yuuzhan Vong War occurs in 25 ABY. The Galactic Civil War ended in 19 ABY.

Ah good catch. I picked a multiple of 10 there because that makes it easy... But I guess I should have rounded down and not up. In fact, the mod takes place in just prior to and during 24 ABY, following the events of the Shadow Academy and then the Mandalorian activity that I'm writing myself. I will edit the article.
Sounds good to me.
TCW kinda ****** with the mando lore in a big way, which I'm not a fan of and I absolutely agree that the Death Watch is irrelevant by the time of the mod. ORIGINALLY it even has long been irrelevant at the time of the Clone Wars, but well...
Though I'm pretty sure the Death Watch is not a clan, but rather a group with a shared ideology. The known DW leaders for example were from the clan Viszla.
Yes it changed the lore quite a bit and the whole storyline if pacifist mandalorians was a disgrace.
1 because that isn't the Mandalorian culture at all.
2 because I hate it when even a kids show tries to be all progressive and ideological or preachy. Just make the damn cartoon and stop tying to shove ideals down my throat.
3 because they made the "warrior culture" that they should have been an evil thing...which it isn't. There's a difference between warriors and warmongers. Ie: oh I dunno...the Jedi. Lol. It was ok to have "proud and peacekeeping warrior" Jedi/clones/republic but Mandalorian warrior culture...oh no, that's evil...
Amen to that. MANDALORIAN CULTURE FTW!!!!!
I'm just thankful that I can keep pretending that The Force Awakens doesn't exist and the Expanded Universe is still canon.
To each their own. I thought the new movie was great! I don't mind having two universes anyway :) I think I'm ok following an official and "fan" universe.
I'm guessing that wasn't the reply he was expecting(/looking for). :P
No, and it wasn't the movie I was looking for either. Ooooooohhh! *drops mike*
If you take a look at these you might just end up agreeing with me:
Youtube.com
Collider.com
If you can watch/read one of these and still love the film, then more power to you.
Also, thanks for respecting my opinion Farseer. You're the first person who hasn't given me hate over this.
An interesting review (the YouTube one). I didn't look at the other but I can say that I agree with about half of what the YouTube video brought up. However, a lot of what he mentions are not flaws at all... Some of it simply requires suspension of disbelief... And the rest just requires some creative thought and a willingness to fill in the gaps on your own, without having to have the story spelled out for you on screen.
There are certainly flaws with the movie and plot (most notably Starkiller base, as he says) but overall, the characters are far more relatable and believable than any in the prequels. IMO, it beats the prequels hands down...but still falls short of the originals. If the originals are a perfect 10, I'd rate it at least a 7.
In any case, youre entitled to your opinion and there are certainly reasons to not like the film...I just personally see past them.
I'm glad that you and many others can see past the movie's flaws and get a level of enjoyment from it.
Perhaps I'm too cynical in my beliefs regarding the film. Only time will tell if it maintains it's popularity.
Finally, thanks again for your acceptance of my opinion on the matter and I think we can both agree that we're excited to see the upcoming anthology films and future installments of the main series.
(I'd personally love for them to re-introduce the Old Republic as canon via a SWtOR show on Netflix or HBO)
Well I think there is still some debate over the Old Republic being canon or not... I mean, Darth Bane was brought into canon via the Clone Wars animated series and the novelization of Episode 1. He obviously comes a few thousand years after the KotOR games...but is technically still part of the Old Republic era, according to the timeline.
Yeah, some things from the EU still exist in the canon, like Moraband (Korriban) and Lehon (Rakata Prime) and there are even mentions of Malachor in some of the new books/comics.
Interesting about Malachor, I wasnt aware of that. I am glad though that even if they changed the names and maybe even parts of the story, they at least threw the fans some kind of bone as far as the Old Republic goes. I'll admit that there are some big flaws with the Old Republic setting, particularly when it comes to technology, but the storyline is really cool.
"The unique crossguard design of Kylo Ren's lightsaber was said to date back thousands of years to the Great Scourge of Malachor."

Someone made a casting list of Star Wars, DC, and Marvel characters which you should take a look at:

The Old Republic would have to be considered Canon, It makes a really good background story like, "Where did the sith come from, where did the Jedi come from? What were the mandalorians like back then" Ect.
True Mandalorians Don't seek Peace only war and to Fight and Gain Honor Fett is a traitor to the Mandalorians he must Die!!!!!
You must have gotten coal for Christmas... Lol
Says the weakest, most useless Mandalore to ever live! You di'kut!
Eloquently and succinctly put, the_Farseer.
I typed it with my pinky out, while sipping tea. I'm glad the eloquence flowed appropriately onto the page ;) Haha. Really though, thanks as always.
Amen to that my friend, a long time ago I have earned the title Mandalore The Silencer, I have always followed the Mandalorian Culture.
As Mandalore, I will conquer the galaxy, crush the Hutt Cartel, Crush the Jedi, Crush the Sith. Then we will be in a whole new era of peace, building arenas on every planet, and start the great hunt. I am Mandalore The Silencer, I silence those who amuse me, I silence those who oppose me, I silence those who betray me, I silence those who pretend to be me, I silence those that are Force Users. I silence all.
I think lot of us can agree the Death Watch can't understand how much has changed.
These idiots like say they want rebuild Mandalorian Empire and follow Mandalorian Ways, but their all di'kuts. It's like with Krogan if you think about it, if they go out trying start up another Crusade or try conqueror the galaxy, they would have destroyed Mandalorian culture.
The Mandalorians would have lost what makes them so unique, we saw first stages with Neo Crusaders, of how many were nothing more but thugs in armor and how many ran before the final battle like cowards. Death Watch were similar.
If anything, Tor was an just a idiot with big ego on his head, so was Pre Vizsla, at he died like Mandalorian but didn't had mind set like a Mandalorian. Picking on the weak like the way he did in Clone Wars just shows how much of a dishonor he was to all Mandalorians.
I really hope we'll see better sides of Mandalorian culture soon in Canon. Fenn Rau and Sabine Wren are a good start but I'll wait until we get something confirmed. Anyone that disagrees with me, that's you're problem, not my. I believe in Supercommando Codex, the real Mandalorians, not those dar'manda Death Watch or New Mandalorians.
