Because the XR-85 uses the same weapon's systems as the DF.9 Tower, it likely isn't a surprise that this will be the Remnant's anti-infantry turret.

I really like the look of this one. More interesting than the vanilla ones, but still fairly simple. Don't know, just looks cool.

Thanks, I liked the design as well. I actually have always kind of liked the xr-85 tank droids because they are like something from Terminator, with a Galactic Empire makeover. lol

Description

After the defeat of the Galactic Empire and the fracturing of it's various forces into the Imperial Remnant, Imperial military strength was at an all time low with little in the way of capital to help replace it. Because funds were limited and recruitment of new soldiers was becoming increasingly difficult, the Remnant turned more and more to droids to supplement their forces.

One such droid unit was the XR-85 Tank Droid. Originally meant for the defense of key Imperial worlds like Coruscant, the XR-85 was soon thrust into front line service whenever possible, as it was the cheaper alternative to expending living soldiers. However, cheap though they were, they were more predictable than flesh and blood units and therefore easier to defeat for New Republic forces who faced them.

Tank Droid units that could be salvaged after a battle found new purpose as stationary defensive towers. While their entire chassis couldn't be saved, their primary weapons and targeting systems made for excellent laser defenses and were an ingenious way for the Remnant to recycle equipment while saving cost and being able to set up defenses quicker than usual. These revived and repurposed droid units were redesignated as TXR-85's and became a fairly frequent sighting around Remnant outposts.
