Vehicle,dude.I maybe having too much WOT,but UEF just has too much undeveloped potential in vehicles.
I feel this way is because i feel, if the UEF lose their partial focus to mechs,they would feel less iconic to the other factions.
If everyone is using big mechs, the Cybrans won't feel so special now? In universe,they were the Mecha specialists.
Aeon's more of a gray area.
But,well,the Fatboy III would do as well.
If you are talking about experimentals only, then we already have designed 3 tracked vehicles!
If you are talking about normal units, then we have both wheeled and tracked ones here and there too... Can't remember the exact number, and not sure if we shown them all :P
Yes, those are good too,but when i see a mech being the poster boy of the UEF, AKA the Atlas, i then wonder has at some point in universe, the UEF forgotten about building giant vehicles and simply just resorted to just mechs for their backbone forces?
It's like (now,Real Life humanity) replacing Heavy Tanks/MBTs with mechs.
Not to say they can't do it,but lets be honest,why would you abandon a tried and true design over an alternative one?
In fact, taking this new stance of reverse engineering into your own style,you would be developing both,not pushing one to the back.
The UEF is becoming more like the Aeon,a good all round mix of tanks and mechs,just like the universe suggests during SC 2.
(I am proposing another design archetype for the Aeon to make them unique.Later.)
UEF was about being (partly) humanly conservative after all.....
Anyway, digging up some of those conceptual tank designs,i'm surprised the UEF don't have a LANDCRUISER.

(DAT SIZE,DAT NAVAL HUGE *** GUN.I'm talking about Vehicles/Tanks so big and so heavily armed similarly to a mech that it can take on your XP mechs one on one.)
(Fatboy's size qualifies,but the role it takes is still quite support fire.)
Anyway, if TL DR,is that the old style of UEF's unspoken "Mechs are overated" back in the old SC games is what i'm suggesting here.
(The Jackhammer is so in their style,nothing like taking out a giant robot without using a mech of your own.)
In a world where everyone is building giant robots/mechs,design sense wise,the only reason why the UEF stands out is that they are the ones who can make giant vehicles capable of fighting those those giant robots/mechs.
i kinda agree with rtys8 on this one. uef was big on tracks. itd be nice to have a beefed up version of the devastator as the god lvl xp. the tracked version of the atlas was great but after realizing what rtys8 means, a legit tank is much more preferred. not with arms. something big and beefy like the juggernaut but for direct fire support. a tank version of the annihilator. i suppose giving the juggernaut the ability to fire directly at units and as artillery would suffice.
the current terrain in supcom is perfect for huge tanks. flat. make some of the terrain hilly. otherwise the role of legs is as useless as it is cool.
this also brings to mind wheeled vehicles. it would be really cool to see some supcom variation of the star wars turbo tank.

Don't try to push real-life mechanics into game lore... It's different working systems ;)
But to answer you there might be many reasons to switch from vehicles to mechs (in in-game lore):
1) propaganda reasons ("we can also achieve this", "imposing sizes" etc.)
2) switch of arms contractors
3) Research and Development
4) unification
and the list goes on...
I can see where you're heading with the land kreuzers, and I have to inform you that the new fatboy is a huge "bolo" so it fulfils your "lust"....and at earlier stage you have the T4 tank which also has many many many weapons...and even earlier you have another little (BIG) fella on tracks which is still classified ;P

Hmm maybe you are right. I am taking a small break from wot.I just wanted to control a huge vehicle.You know the cybran and the aeon will never have as great potential in vehicle design.
Thinking a bit from the other perspective a bit, yes, mechs ARE powerful in sci-fi concepts, but I am reading a novel series which deconstructs their viability rather nicely.The uef, being the realistic faction has the best chance of showing that.
Mechs aren't necessarily everything in the war.
For the Aeon i was thinking its time to take their concepts to another level.
But anyway looking back at what been shown,i think all is fine when think about it again. A good mix of vehicles and mechs would fit the uef at this time.
it is a game dude. And all factions are humans and worked in the past as a team --> Forget Alliance
So they have maybe shared and talk about the +/- ballance of technologies. Maybe UEF and Cybran will build hover tanks in the future ;)
Co-development does not mean erasure of your own current technology style.
That's why i feel something is off if the UEF just suddenly stopped trying to develop/improve their existing Vehicles/Tanks,just because their robotics department was finally getting similar results.
Mechs, and Tanks/Vehicles are totally different things.
They might be both judged under efficiency to make,but you forget,these are EXPERIMENTALS.
What puzzles me is how the UEF has so little trial vehicle XPs,sure,they made 3 more,fixes that.
But again,in UEF,the Assault bots even on the troop level were always mainly support fire.There were more tanks than robots in the UEF.
This implied they still aren't so big on the mechs part,even after sharing with the Cybran and Aeon.
It was mainly your Rock Heads charging through to the enemy and taking their fire,no?
The UEF assault bots would be just too poorly armored to take such fire.
So why has none tried to make an XP "Rock Head" that could go 1v1 with those giant mecha XPs?
And it is total epicness

comparing the mechs and tanks of this game is hard because balancing overrules realism. we also have a small idea of what would be available. at this time were simply stating that "we can do anything if we want to, we have all the tech we ever wanted. the only reason everything in my base isnt flying is balance" im sure that we certainly would give the structures the eventual ability or upgrade to fly if we had the tech to. ****, wed make the atlas go iron giant superman style on the fighter jets. in the eyes of balance, all we have to do is stick more/bigger thrusters/antigravity on it and make it as maneuverable as gundam somehow. im sure we would if the game were as realistic as we are implying. we have the tech. sadly balance overrules realism. balance balance balance.
the same reason the commanders and engineers arent flying. balance.
i would like to have the juggernaut fire directly with the big guns but itd have to switch ammo type once it got too close. otherwise those high explosive shells would hurt it too. that would be a nice balance cost though.

When it ever makes its way into the mod it will bw a little different than how it is now and its role is not clear, might just be a vet upgrade for the Annihilator.

another god lvl xp i hope. one of those units that the game limits to one only. i hope it doesnt change much. cant wait to see the cybran and aeon equals-. the aeon still havent shown thier first god lvl xp. love the legs and color. reminds me of my lego thing. i could replace the flatness up top with an airfield.
the ground is a tad clean for having this thing crawl across it. would expect to see some footprints nd smushed trees.

i built a huge quadruped mech in ldd. its in my profiles. i was talking about replacing the two big guns on my ldd creation with an airfield, taking Avitus's idea into consideration.
This must be some kind of THE UBER ULTIMATE UNIT!! So much details and many weapons, i liked that and hope to see this beast in game^^
