Seriously guys, can we rename this thing? Images2.wikia.nocookie.net
^ THIS is a Phoenix. Calling a naval warship a phoenix makes no sense whatsoever. If you want to name it something fire-related because of the flamer, then name it the Salamander or something. Scylla and Charybdis are still up for debate.
On the lighter side of things, it looks awesome, hands down.
as soon as i saw the head i thought of a reptile.
how about giving it a scaly look n calling it a KOMODO. then turn that flamethrower into and acid spitter. flamethrower out at sea? eeeeh doesnt sound so effective.
or you could make the top part a bit bigger and call it DRAGON TURTLE. but then that would make it an experimental.
Ancient greeks were using "liquid fire" to burn the enemy ships...so I dont see the "strange" thing with ships and fire... also take a look at this: Upload.wikimedia.org
anywayz, the phoenix name came to me without further thought, it can change...the name isnt of any huge importance...it is the model that just reached finalization :)
Call it the Napthatar Class; Napthatar being another name for Greek Fire, a napalm like substance used by the Byzantine Empire, both at see and on land.
they fold up. i do like the idea of legs hanging down but thats a jellyfish. like a mine.
while were on the subject of naval units, anyone ever thought about a shark experimental to replace the kraken or are we still going for a new kraken? i do like the idea of a megaladon in the cybran naval fleet.
If you read the first pictures description, you realize that it's NOT a ship. It's a "Close range ground heavy hitter" with the ability "to travel at sea in ship form with limited capabilities". It's like an amphibious tank.
Regardless, great model. Looking forward to using that baby.
then whats with the dreadnought? the original HMS dreadnought was one of the first proper battleships to the stage that all battleships are ever classified pre-dreadnought or post-dreadnought if it isn't a boat it shouldn't even be called that, should just be the phoenix.
If I classified a tank as a "dreadnought" it wouldn't make a battleship. Regardless of what it's named, properly or not, we've already been told it's specifications and role. I'm guessing it's probably a misunderstanding of the word.
well unless you called it a land dreadnought, like in leviathan. 4.bp.blogspot.com
anybody think this beastie would fit in the cybran nation? Freakingnews.com its a cross between an extinct fish and a turtle. like to see some cannons sticking outta the shell somehow or have it split open to reveal a bigger cannon. thats fire in its mouth.
okay a few of the main characters in the leviathan series use "i suppose" quite often. is it just a coincidence that you said that or do you actually read the series?
The name does not fit, looks more like half boat half land Xp. not land that can go on water or navy that can go on land but both. so it needs more of a combo name.
Thank you good sir. I honestly think they're making a mistake on this name. I dearly wish to see it changed. Tiamat would suit it better. But it is not my decision. I can only try and convince.
have you already planned how the head is going to open?
i think it would look very nice if the head splits up in 2 or 3 parts which open up and then slide back instead of folding up
i was hoping for more of an artillery related name. Dora was one of the barrels from the worlds biggest artillery cannon, but then the whole thing was actually called the gustav gun, and then the leader of the cybran nation is gustav. but Dora sounds like a better name than juggernaut. and yes it does, the orcish battleship is called a juggernaut.
though juggernaut doesnt fit the dreadnaught. still. juggernaut sounds more close range melee than long range.
Phoenix? it looks more like armadillo.
It sorta does. I always thought that Isopods would make good cybrans.
armadillos arent isopods. but ive already suggested using an ohmu.
Google.com
Oh oh!
That would be awesome!
+100 this!
so thats...+200 then?
Exactly...
they would make a perfect forward base , with a factory for land and air , a shieldgen and maybe even defensive weapons but we already have that :(
could be just a super heavily armored transport with the crush ability.
armadillo rolls into a ball. this doesnt look like it does that.
The same way the Monkeylord looks anything at all like a monkey?
a yes reapers
they also have a weapon in the head

i agree wit dis guy. phoenix is a fire bird.

Napthatar ? Well I can ensure you, I am Greek and I haven't heard this name anywhere....
I never said it was a Greek word. :D If I remember correctly the word naptha means something about fire in Pursian. It sounds cool though.
Au contraire, the name is of the utmost importance!
Imagine the Universal being called something like the "Cyclops"....
*shudder*
hmmm a revamped universal colossus could be called a cyclops
I know that the name means many things, but at the CURRENT state, it wont change anything ;) that's what I meant !
its impossible for these legs to pop out of that "small" body , do they just hang down when it goes in water?
they fold up. i do like the idea of legs hanging down but thats a jellyfish. like a mine.

shark....hmmmmm.....sometimes, I want to show you some stuff, but it is not the time ;D
can i have a hint? is it an xp?
submarine , a submarine please the cybran need them sooo bad !
DONT NAME IT PHOENIX!
I cannot stress that point enough....
DON'T NAME IT PHOENIX!
A Phoenix is a fire bird of awesome power, not a freAking ship.
Call the the salamander, sounds much better.
There's been a number of warships in the U.S. Navy (dunno about other nations) that bear the name 'Phoenix', so it's not unprecedented.
That doesn't mean it's a good idea...
Just my two cents.

Name it Phoenix! It sounds awesome and I want to see other people's butthurt :P
Name it Jormungand (mythical sea monster).
Tiamat! Name it Tiamat. Naming it Phoenix contradicts the very first meaning of the name. It's like naming the "Fat-boy" Skinny boy. -.-
You sir are a genius. I second this notion.
Thank you good sir. I honestly think they're making a mistake on this name. I dearly wish to see it changed. Tiamat would suit it better. But it is not my decision. I can only try and convince.
skinny boy would be an interesting concept...a faster, more agile version of the fatboy....hmmmmm
I was working on a minor experimental based on a slimmed down version of fatboy, but it was cancelled :)
it looks like that giant flying big out of the film mist
that movie...just saw it...the gore and all was epic but the storyline...not so much. and no movie could have a worse ending.
reminds me of this

have you already planned how the head is going to open?
i think it would look very nice if the head splits up in 2 or 3 parts which open up and then slide back instead of folding up
that's how it opens man, I already shown it in the previous render....it consists of 4 parts that open to the side ;)
yeeeey ;D
hey what about juggernaut?
Thats the name of this unit Moddb.com in no way it fits a naval unit O_o.
