We have changed the very concept of locations where the plot of the game will take place. We made an interesting decision based on observations in the Arctic region. Instead of cliched showing an "icy desert" on an unknown piece of land, we decided to take real-life islands.

You may even know where the action will take place. Of course we didn't forget to add the location of the various Combine structures. The possibility of introducing various historical aspects of the place of residence, local household items is also being considered.

The difficulty was that satellite maps do not provide information on the neutral territory of the Arctic, so a location plan was developed based on old elevation maps and photographs of local photographers of the Northern Arctic Federal University. This will diversify the game, improve the depth of the study of locations and bring new landscapes.

The main idea is to show the different climatic regions of the Arctic. Conventionally, the game will be divided into 3 zones, the latter will be mainly a semi-open sandbox.

We've also finished the main work on the first map of the prologue. The materials for the models have been adjusted.

At the moment, discussions are underway to add variability to the passage of certain moments and locations.

i am happy that someone is working on source engine very perfectly.if you guys develop the engine more like shaders , lightning and cubemaps,phong etc it will be more great cuz valve develop its source engine to source 2.pls keep a track with this development.

We are delaying the report for 4 months already due to the fact that we have a lot of new things for you. Unfortunately, the locations with the arctic are still underdeveloped, in contrast to the introductory locations. At the moment, work is underway on graphic improvements, including grass, textures, house models. Some game mechanics are being developed. We will also be ready to show the new NPC model soon. Also, work on some sounds was completed, for example, a preset for the classic voice of combine soldiers was prepared.

If your mod is meant to "recreate a detailed Arctic environment" with "sophisticated locations"... what is up with all the palm trees, grass and washing machines?.. what are you making them for, specifically?

In fact, it is strange that we should have this issue just now. We're not just making stupid maps where the main character will annihilate all living things only in many many snow. Locations with the tropics are driven by an interesting plot and non-linear storytelling. We will not tell all the secrets, because it won't be interesting anymore. The main plot and action will take place in the Arctic, but this does not mean that we have not come up with something interesting.

Sorry if I sound too strange to you, I just expected by now to see some kind of level design showcase and you've been showing individual models, shaders, drawings, and also assets that strangely have nothing in common with the Arctic theme.

While also making kinda grand claims and jabs against other mods.

So you may understand my confusion.

We have some developments in the Arctic. We solve some of the problems on them, including what we are showing now. It mainly has to do with texture format, lighting, etc. Regarding the available mods - addressed to what has already been implemented. Soon, new works will be posted on the Arctic theme itself.
About the design of the levels. To show what is now is to show just a desert with brushes. Now very serious work is underway to create objects, because it is not enough to put brushes. Remove a bunch of models from the same Black Mesa xen maps and there will be emptiness. So this process is not fast, especially when there are 2 modelers. Thank you for reply!
