Republic at War is a total conversion modification for Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption. The mod replaces the Empire with the Galactic Republic and the Rebel Alliance with the Confederacy. Republic at War focuses heavily on the theatrical films but also contains content from the Clone Wars cartoon series as well as the expanded universe. Players can re-enact various Clone War campaigns such as the Outer Rim Sieges. Players will have the choice to fight as either the CIS or the Republic and wage war for control of the galaxy. Realism is key and players will have unprecedented control over how and where they fight. Push forward with an entire clone legion such as the 501st or 212th or overwhelm your opponent with a seemingly endless number of B1 battledroids. The choice is yours. There are also a number of expansions planned that will add new (as well as polish existing) content.

You decided to put the droid in the corner? I was hoping you'd have nothing from that terrible cartoon thing in this? Oh well.

@z3r0x

Same here! I just watched the "Counter Attack" episode, and I very liked it. And in general, I really love the TV show. Sure, there is some things in there that I disagree with, but it's really entertaining with a lot of action (Except the ones with politics involved... those are quite boring) that expend much further the Star Wars Universe.

I really love the look of these Tactical Droids (Same for the BX-Commando) and I think it fit PERFECTLY in there. Good work Z, each update and pictures I see, make me want to play your mod SO MUCH MORE. I really hope you can release it before the end of March, as my vacation ends soon...

I like the show. i watched the all the series online :) best episode has got to be the first two from series 3, the one with echo and fives. The recent episodes, the ones on that weird force planet were boring - i prefer the ones with loads of Clone troopers looking awesome and doing awesome stuff :)

Uhh. Face it. The prequels were terrible. They focussed less on the story telling nature and more on the "ooo shiny, look what we can do now with computers!" I do agree though, Episode One was good. Except for Jar Jar....who was a terrible addition at first, but without him, we wouldn't get so many good jokes later on.

hahaha. obviously you know nothing of canonocity. even ozzy 667 agrees that there are contradictions in the cartoon. seeing that the series is not complete, they still have time to correct the conflictions. so for now its ambiguously canon

Fair enough, I was mostly taking a shot at the guy bitching about the Tactical droid being included. Also, I really really couldn't give a **** about canonocity because it's Star Wars and Star Wars is meant to be a long, fun adventure story with undertones of Roman and 1900s political history.

The series also doesn't go anywhere in chronological order at all. So what you perceive as conflictions now will probably be cleared up when they're done with their boring side-trips.... I stopped watching after they spent a few episodes on the Force Planet because I felt it was a misplaced side-story among the season. It would have been better if they had just gone in order, or saved that for near the end of the planned run of the show, which if I remember correctly, they want 7 seasons at least so it can be syndicated with well over 100 episodes.

Oh, And I still maintain that the prequels sucked, just so you can keep marking down my comments like the little bitch you are. Nevertheless, I still love battle droids and I know this mod will make this ******, boring, lame-*** game something great and worth playing again for a long, long time.

first of all im not upset with you, even if your being rude, disrespectful, and presenting yourself in a childish manner. everyone is entitled to their opinion and i respect that.

lastly, the clone wars mod isnt mine, its nett40s. i just make maps for them, as well as the upcomming starfox generations mod, and dexoforce2's star wars,: universe at war mod. so your attempts to insult me have gone unnoticed. i agree, once raw is released, the clone wars mod will be forgotton but its just something to pass the time. i do dissagree with some of the things they are doing in tcw mod but i respect their choices none the less.

Woot. You pointed out all my flaws at the moment. Job done.

Really though, I gotta be honest with you. I completely agree that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I don't particularly care for seeing people vote down mine just because I stated the fact that "The prequels were bad" Keep in mind, that was said purely in terms of their story telling. Visuals were stunning, excellent and a testament to movie making. Fans who saw the original movies, and the majority of real Star Wars Fans period seem to support this opinion. This forum of sorts is full more of gamers than the hardcore fanboys. Thank god.

As for the Clone Wars series, people argue it's not very canon. Those people also don't seem to read books. I'm not much of an avid reader myself, except of Heinlein's works, but I've read many of the Clone Wars novels and fail to see Canon problems. That could just be my memory betraying me. Me? I think the series is very well portrayed and a nice break from all the other garbage they put on TV and especially now on Cartoon Network (Which seems to getting more and more live shows? Wtf? Not to mention Adult Swim showing endless crap that I personally can't stand listening to, let alone watching.)

The other Clone Wars mod,the one you say you do mapping for, actually fun for killing time. It's buggy as hell now, hence why it sucks for all but fleet combat, but I mostly came back with the second post there to try to **** you off personally, and I admit that openly and apologize.

Now then. Prequels still sucked. Battle Droids? Still awesome. (And silly.) This mod? Still going to rock when Z gets it done. I can't program, mod, design or anything of the sort to save my life, but I do tabletop gaming, so I have a fair understanding of how much work and love someone can put into a project and this person has put in enormous amounts and that's very respectable. Which is why the guy at the top whining about the tactical droid set me off in the first place.

you dont have to apologize, i completly understand. i did not vote you down for saying that the prequils were bad, hell i hardly even do the voting thing, anyways i do perfer the original trilogy much better. but the prequils werent horrible, i enjoyed whatching the massive cgi battles. as for the story, could have been better. specially ROTS, i wanted to see boba get his revenge.

and about the whole clone wars not being canon thing, its not over yet so there is still time for them to correct the contradictions.

Eh, I never apologize unless I mean it.
That was fun seeing Boba show up in the series though. Kid killed a damn Venator-class. Which I'd have to say makes Boba the most bad *** kid I've ever seen in anything. Sure, as a kid Anakin took out a Luchrehulk....but it was a Pre-war one and he had a fighter. Boba had a stolen blaster and a small bomb which he had already used. That's some talent and just makes his death in Return of the Jedi even more disappointing.

No...no I did not read the expanded universe. o.o Not all of it anyways. I read some 20 random novels, none of which I can recall the names of and an odd assortment of comics from when I was 12 to when I was 17. Then the popularity of Star Wars tanked for me, exception being EAW for a while back when it was new.

I just want to say that the only real "non-canon" thing I've seen/cared about in TCW series is the fact that they changed a whole lot about Mandalorians and Karen Traviss' novels. (Some people claim the show is canon, and Karen Traviss' books are now non-canon, I hate to think that because I really like those books)

Edit: *sigh* Silly Moddb, screwing up which comment I responded too.

Lucas himself has stated the the current Clone Wars TV show is just below the films in terms of canon. So, if it overrides anything that already exists in comics, novels, etc, tough **** I guess. But the producers have stated that they're trying to work within what already exists.

Hey, *******. You do know people can....-Gasp.- LIE?! Right? Because that's essentially what story tellers and movie makers do. They're paid to invent a lie. The more believable or entertaining this lie is, the more money they make.

Also, if you're actually offended by any of my statements, get off the ******* internet, because they can only get worse as I actually put effort into it. ^_^

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
wolfprophet
wolfprophet - - 229 comments

Oh ,I know that. But the thing is....And this is pretty general when writing a story. Most authors write backwards. It's an old literary trick. You invent characters, invent an ending. Then you figure out later...How do we get to this ending? What important events lead us there? Who helps these events along?

My personal opinion of the matter, and this is not a concrete opinion, just to let you know. It's a current opinion I'm pulling out of my *** to give as example and is based on the evidence the current posters have provided.(Which amounts to exactly two things. Jack and ****. And Jack left town.)

Lucas may have had an outline for the events leading up to the original trilogy, but it's entirely possible he didn't have any details except for a limited, select characters in that outline, as well as some places and ideas for it. Upon realizing the opportunity to expand things, he began writing out the events, the stories, the factions, planets, races and more to encompass the history prior to the events made popular by the original trilogy and novels, comics, etc written as additional depictions of them.

So just because Luke mentions the Clone Wars in A New Hope, doesn't mean that the Clone Wars as we know it now as a full on conflict with faces to put to it's participants, existed. It may have been at that point just a title of a conflict with a sparse detail or two about how Anakin fought in it and was a great pilot. And until we can invent mind-reading technology or an effective lie detector to put Lucas through, we'll never know if he had the whole thing written out and planned out as alot of these jokers on here claim he did "Because he said so" (And is apparently totally incapable of telling a lie because he's above the rest of humanity?)

*Quick edit, I thank you for bringing up that point. Gave me an excuse to lay down a viable argument. :D Which is just going to get voted down because the mindless fanboys hate me.

If I remember correctly, Mandolorians were in a major war at some point, but that before the Clone Wars. It's why they were a "Peaceful planet." Actually, I'd say the Clone Wars Series honestly depicts them similarly to the Weihmar Republic... shamed, disarmed and almost beaten down compared to the rest of the universe. I'm looking to finding copies of the Karen Traviss books mentioned by another poster here, but so far no luck at local stores. :/ Popularity of sci-fi literature (and anything remotely intelligent) around here took a nose dive when everyone started getting stupid over vampires and werewolves in love with a plain looking teen girl.
