An expansion/overhaul mod of epic proportions, with entirely rebalanced gameplay, expanded factions, new gametypes, graphical overhauls, and five new factions; stealth-based Confederate Revolutionaries, tower defense-inspired Atomic Kingdom of China, economy-focused Mediterranean Syndicate, DotA-esque Order of the Talon and spammy Electrical Protectorate.
An early concept for the Icon, the Electrical Protectorate superweapon, which melds machine and cosmic horror into a beast beyond the imagination.
i thought the icon was gonna look like a metallic skeleton chained inside a big floating metal cube frame made out indestructible Who-knows-What.
but this is an early concept sketch.
this kinda looks like a Robotic Jellyfish of doom. heh.
The Icon was always supposed to be some kind of Mecha-Cthulu. I really like the current design, but hope to GOD that I don't have to animate the thing.
how big is it supposed to be?
about the size of an Apoc Tank?
i think it could use a circuit pattern on the bell of it with maybe lights running on the circuits for the texture.
i really like the design though
It's... big. Really really big. Airfield big.
now that's big!
so is it summoned on the battlefield like a chronosphere?
or does it emerge from its building like any other unit?
Its summoned.
thats big reminds me of the Scrin Harvester will it pick up units and rip buildings apart with its tentacles/claws or what?
It'll do all sorts of nasty stuff, as it's basically an evil god trapped in a steel form. Expect nasty behavior.
Looks like HL2 gunship ^^
Gonna need a lot of RPGs to take this baby down.
Now that's CREEPY.
Hell yea ^^
I hope it will be bigger than kirov coz kirovs are much smaller than in RA2 so they r not so impressive at all :P
Actually, the Icon is really huge, seeing as it's a superweapon. Airfield huge.
Airfield wide? Or airfield long. lol
Long meaning the Width, or Height. lol
Airfield long in all dimensions.
well i guess now you could say it`s about twice the size of the Giga fortress. oh and btw, if you wanted to do something old sci-fi like you are succesful.
Maybe you guys can let it glow with purple lights coming out of his head and stuff.
Something like Land Corsair from WH40K when its taken off by machine ghost???
I think it would be cool. :)
After seeing sketchbook's comments, I would say this unit is clearly overpowered. It should have like 1HP in-game.
Sketchbook hasn't even said what the Icon can actually do. Don't assume it's overpowered because it's big - read the EP unit list before jumping to conclusions.
Also, it's the EP's goddamn superweapon. It basically costs 6000+ dollars, has a huge power draw, and takes 8 minutes of holding a tech building to charge. The required power draw will nessesitate at least level 3 stablizers which means you need 20 minutes or so to get this into the match if you go straight for it.
So if people have a long match it means game over then? A moving superweapon could be a disaster. Either UP or OP.
Not necessarily. This thing does have it's vulnerabilities. Running it straight into massed defenses will kill it pretty quick, and it is very venerable to artillery, airstrikes and the like. It's arrival is Bad with a capital B for your opponent, but he can recover from it. Basically, it's the destructive potential of an Ultimate Weapon in unit form.
Scrin?
It's more of a Cthulu-robot than an alien-robot.
Also looks a bit like some Machine City stuff from the Matrix...
Don't know if I'm going out on a limb here or anything, but I think a special theme should play when the icon is summoned! For inspiration? Check out Giygas's theme!
(I'd say it should resemble Giygas as well, but that was really only possible in a 2D game,...)
:D
I like the way you think.
reminds me about reapers from mass effect like sovereign and human reaper
Sovereign: "You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it." good quote for this unit wehen kill enemy
