An expansion/overhaul mod of epic proportions, with entirely rebalanced gameplay, expanded factions, new gametypes, graphical overhauls, and five new factions; stealth-based Confederate Revolutionaries, tower defense-inspired Atomic Kingdom of China, economy-focused Mediterranean Syndicate, DotA-esque Order of the Talon and spammy Electrical Protectorate.

Should we set a time to meet for Paradox games? | Locked | |

A decent number of people meet up at every Paradoxcast because they are at set times, so would setting a day(s)/time(s) to meet in casual 17 for some Paradox games be a good idea? If such meetings became organized enough, stuff tournaments and other events could be possible. Not sure when the time should be though, probably whatever works for the Paradox team. (Because trying to balance it around every player's schedule would be a nightmare.) Just to throw a time out there, maybe 7:00 on Tuesdays in (GMT-06:00) Central Time? I feel like Paradox would be much more playable online if we did something like that. (Also, add other Paradox players to your friends list, it helps a ton for finding matches.) |

I remeber sea said he was working on a tournement, but this would be a great way to find more people. -- Quick its 2am! Do you know where your base is? |

So I guess we try it at 7:00 PM tonight central time? |
||
Jul 6 2010 Anchor | ||
We should have several times, since ParadoxCast time is way too late for me and many other Europeans. |
||
Jul 6 2010 Anchor | ||
Indeed, I was just throwing out one time. What other time works for Europeans? |
||
|
Jul 6 2010 Anchor | |
Anything between 9:00 to 23:00 GMT that means for you americans 4:00-18:00 |
||
Jul 6 2010 Anchor | ||
Okay, maybe a match at 4:00 PM Central Time? |
||
|
Jul 6 2010 Anchor | |
and please stop useing am and pm, it's confusing, especially when you bring in GMT +-, however, everybody understands 16:00. To make it american time you just takes 16-5=11:00. <-- easy |

set meeting times are a no-no, they may suit you, but anyone in a different time zone is screwed by them. you start only coming on at 19:00 central time, that means THE WHOLE of EUROPE is excluded, as it's gone midnight for even the most western parts of europe. for anyone in Eastern Europe, it's about 3 AM! |
||
Jul 6 2010 Anchor | ||
I am saying that we should have several different meet time because people are likely to be excluded in each one, and the chances of meeting randomly are too slim. So 16:00 Central time would be 4:00 Central time, I guess. |

That's why we have a steam group (which even the devs are members in) |
||
Jul 6 2010 Anchor | ||
Why not simply set like every 3 hours or something. Not too bad, most people would be able to get on for at least one of those 3 hours everyday. Right? |
||
Jul 6 2010 Anchor | ||
That would work, but we would have to have most everyone join it. Which would be awesome. |
||
Jul 6 2010 Anchor | ||
restrictive, what if you miss it by 5 minutes? (or 10, etc) it essentially limits us to one game every 3 hours. the steam group is the way to go on this i think, much more flexible. |
||
Jul 6 2010 Anchor | ||
I dont have uh steam? at all.. |
||
Jul 6 2010 Anchor | ||
link: Store.steampowered.com go there and download it. It's FREE. paradox group: Steamcommunity.com join that and you'll be able to see when we're on. |

I doesn't have steam chat ingame which means RA3 tab downs when someone trys to chat with me |
||
Jul 6 2010 Anchor | ||
you just need to add the RA3.exe (with -ui at end) as a non-steam game and run it from inside steam. no performance loss, but steam chat enabled. |

How about every 6 hours (UCT)?? -- Yours faithfully, That guy who does hammy stuff on a regular basis. |

The problem about steam is that you need to have a steam game. -- >.< |

Aug 16 2010 Anchor | |
No you don't. Steam is free to get, the reason is because whenever you start steam you get some news about their latest games. and you really like reviveing old dead threads? |

Going up a bit, I'm thinking about adding a wiki page for organizing tournaments. Where a player can create a tournament of his or her own, set a time, date, and prize (like a wiki userbar or somthing). Maybe even Commander profiles for the Paradox commanders that appeared after July 4th -- Quick its 2am! Do you know where your base is? |
