I get hints from Heretic and Hexen...
Yeah these cultists look like something out of those aforementioned classics, although they could've also been based off the fireball-shooting Hitler Ghosts from Wolfenstein 3D.

I don’t know if this could be possible but I think a great idea could be that, you found the treasure and secret areas and you earn points that you can use to increase your max Ammo,Armor and Health I think the ps2 version or the Xbox had that option.
It would make find the secret areas very worth, especially when you play the most hard modes.
