This is the full release of my Penumbra: Black Plague texture upscale mod. See description for instructions and changelog.
This mod includes upscaled textures for Penumbra: Black Plague. All environmental, model, and item textures have been upscaled. Upscaling significantly increases the size of the textures and as a result makes them consume more memory. At least 4GB of video memory is recommended to use this mod on the base game without stuttering.
No additional modifications to game files are needed.
1: Open \Penumbra Black Plague\redist\ and back up the contents of \models, \textures \graphics and \config
2: Extract the contents of this archive to your Penumbra Black Plague\redist folder, and overwrite the original files when asked
3: Play the game and enjoy
If you encounter any glitches or issues please feel free to leave a comment.
(Please note: It felt odd to me to have the computer screen immediately shut off after use, so I changed the textures to make computer screens in Black Plague and Requiem always on. To make this make sense minor rewrites to the game's tooltips were necessary).
Known Issues:
Very occasionally some models or skyboxes will load fully white, or fully black after a level transition. This isn't a problem with the mod, but a limitation of the game engine. If it happens save the game, quit, then reload it and things will load as normal.
Changelog:
Version 1.0: Initial Release
Version 1.1: Some textures that proved problematic for the game engine, the mod should now operate totally glitch free.
Version 1.2: Replaced computer screen texture with one that is completely custom made. Computers now look like actual computers, not a screen with a bunch of indecipherable mess on it. In addition a whole bunch of spelling, grammatical, and syntactical errors have been fixed for the English language version of the game.
Version 1.2.1: Minor subtitle line fixes (If you're already using version 1.2 you only need to replace the contents of the /config folder to apply this update)
Version 1.3: Flashback images replaced with higher resolution versions created from scratch. With interaction icons no longer present, and a filter to make the images appear more 'dream like'
Version 1.3.1: Minor fix to one of Clarence's subtitles
