stable_dialogs_bar begins repeating text... | Locked | |

Starting at line #436 of stable_dialogs_bar, the dialogue texts begin to repeat themselves. I didn't make an exact count, but I saw that the dialogue regarding the elimination of the Mercs' top man in the Wild Territory was repeated at least 3 times, perhaps more. Is there a reason why certain dialogues are repeated, while others aren't? I'm not comfortable with deleting any of this text, for I have no clue as to which one of them is the "real" dialogue string that's called upon when a certain action is completed. Could someone from the team take a look at this for me, and inform me of what's going on? If strings of dialogue need to be deleted, I would greatly prefer someone from the team do it other than myself. Yours, |

Thanks for the response Filon. Unfortunately, stable_dialogs_bar is one of the largest files to edit. I was actually hoping that there was an error, but to see that it's not makes me want to let out a heavy sigh... *sigh* One of the things that drives me up a wall for STALKER is the lack of double-spacing after every "." This isn't something that just affects me, as I've had my wife read through the text that was displayed in-game before, and it trips her up too. Oftentimes, it causes me and my wife (and I assume others as well) to "slam" two sentences together, and then these run-on-sentences end up creating unnecessary confusion. So, even if the grammar and spelling is perfectly fine, I'm inserting an extra "space" after every "." and let me tell you, it's not a lot of fun to do this chore. I've thought about using Notepad++ to simply replace every ". " with a ". " instead, but if there's something abbreviated, it'll screw that up, so... Slog through it I will. Thanks again for your input! |
