Hello Guys,

Played some more today. At the very end of this will be the last Xray engine report I retrieved after the game crash to desktop. Thus far, the Bar area had frequent CTDs. I wish that I would've reported them all, but they typically happened late at night, and all I wanted to do was go to bed. I'll be made of sterner stuff from this point forward. Promise!

AK-Dream Underpowered?
Weapon balance so far has felt pretty good, but for some reason, my recent usage of the AK-Dream has got me wondering if it's underpowered. It fires a significantly larger round than the AK-spetszaz-special, yet it seems like I need more rounds from the Dream to kill the target.

PDA Accepts Player's Notes
One feature that I badly miss from SuperMod is their awesome PDA that allowed the Player to enter notes wherever he was at. I'd LOVE to have that capability here as well, where I think it's even more needed.

What would be VERY nice is if our team could go one step further and make it so that notes that were already entered could also be edited afterward. That way, if a very special item was left somewhere and later picked up, and something else left in its place, the original can be altered to keep the information more accurate.

Nano-Drones - A ''Gift'' from the U.S.

If you've ever seen the science fiction film series "Terminator," then these little guys should remind you a LOT of the HK-Aerial from the second film. Here are some images of it:

To me, if one is going to have a military with as few soldiers as possible because of their vulnerabilities, limitations, and costs, then going SMALL is The Way to go. After all, none of these nano drones is everr going to need years' worth of expensive psychotherapy sessions and 30 pills a day to keep itself sane after committing one grossly unnatural act after another during wartime. These units will also be awesome in securing a police state.

Why not have them in STALKER since it's set in 2012? They would be painted in a camouflage pattern of light-grays to medium-dark grays. You could adjust their balance in a huge number of ways. Here are some suggestions:

Hawk Model: These drones have no weaponry, but rather spread themselves out and fly in a circular formation that is 75-100 m. across till an enemy is spotted. This data is sent to an American special operations commander, who then orders his men accordingly. Every minute, the commander pauses to re-familiarizes himself with the latest data/videos being transmitted to him by the drones. These drones will do their utmost to get no closer than 2.5 m. away from their target. If a drone is destroyed then another drone is immediately sent to its lost partner's location to reacquire the target, and torment it some more. If the special operations commander should be killed in battle, then his data is automatically sent to that squad's next highest ranking member.

Talon Model: This version of the nano-drone does all that a Hawk model does, but is also equipped with weaponry. One could go with a very "light" concept to a very "heavy" one, but I'm pretty confident that these robots would be a major pain, especially when one considers that they'd be coordinating their attacks with human special forces operatives.

At the minimum, I'd equip it with a 10 mm barrel that could hold up to 3-5 rounds of an advanced taser that disorients and stuns its victim till the human help arrives.

At the maximum, I'd equip it with a 10 mm barrel that could deliver up to 3-5 armor piercing rounds at a target.

Regardless of weapon type, it should be quite accurate within a limited range of perhaps 10 m.

Use ''The Transfigured'' as U.S. VERY Special Forces?
A while ago, I created a new type of special forces unit for LoNer1 that were call "The Transfigured." They could be dressed up in a huge multitude of ways, but their faces all display their unique powers in the same way, regardless of the uniform being worn, and they look like this:

Incorporate LoNer1's Lamp-Lighting System
One of the features that I really enjoy in LoNer1's last release of PPx, is his use of a flickering light for the lamp. It makes everything seem more uncertain, and less stable. It works great, although I think that it blinks "off" too quickly; perhaps once every 30-45 seconds would be better.

Trading Weapons and Pacing Them
I think that there are two major "philosophies" for when certain types of weapons should become available in STALKER. The "realistic" approach is to make most of them available right away, since the region's been active for a while already. The other approach is to greatly slow the pacing down for the sake of "balance and progression," which forces the Player to keep hoping that a better and then even BETTER piece of weaponry and/or hardware finally appears in Trader Shops.

With this release, you've done a very solid job with the "balance and progression" approach in regards to making them available for the Player. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

That said, it still nags at me that The Zone has been an infiltrated region for quite some time already. Why then does Sidorovich have virtually no weapons to sell me from his shop?

A short narrative could explain why there are so few weapons and pieces of gear in The Zone, and here's my basic pitch for it: just let me know if it sounds alright with you so that I can write it up for the next release.

The region came under a very heavy Military action, and 75% of Sidorovich's best weapons/equipment smugglers were brutally busted for their illegal activities. Those that remain are TERRIFIED of getting caught, and are thus now barely bringing in anything of any "solid" value into The Zone, until the Military's activities are tightly controlled.

Let me know what you think of it as soon as you can.

Any CTD with xrRender_R2.dll is arbitrary and depends on the video drivers mostly. For the Nvidia video cards I recommend 285.62 drivers - it's the most stable ones for 400 and 500 Series. With AMD/ATI video cards these CTD observed more often.

Anyway we have no possibilities to modify and fix this part of the game engine because of the lack of low-level video programmers.
