Cant you also like lay arms out to the sides, lay bodies on their sides or sorta half way face-down too ? Just diff poses so they wont be so generic and repetitious.
The problem with that is that it is practically impossible to pose ragdolls in Hammer, something Valve needs to fix. You get one pose (the " T " pose) and then you can rotate it, but anything beyond that isn't possible currently. Also, nice blood decals.
Exactly. I can place them horizontally but thats about as far as it goes. They fall how the engine makes them fall, and the only solution I see is to change the bones in the models to help them 'fall' better. That would force me to make 2 sets of models for every NPC, and then the ones that start live and get killed would still act funny when they die.
I had not known of this limitation (I never used source engine) but perhaps its better without the radolls then to have them always fall the same way, or if your not against it replace the person model with gibs :) but thats probably a different style than what your shooting for.
I can only suggest creating animations specifically for corpses.
Ahhh replace ragdolls with meat chunks...thats actually a really good idea. I may just do that!
