Fail, Its not. It was designed after the second World war in 1945. Then quickly replaced with the Ak-47. I think your thinking of the SVT-40 or its other versions.
Actually you're both wrong. The SKS was designed in 1944. It was based on the SVT-40. Although this rifle I made here is stamped from 1952, like my SKS :)
That looks extremely well done, my only grief with it is the front end from the barrel, from the gas tube up is longer than usual, it looks kinda funny to me...but otherwise great job
Nice! Mine is too man. Unfortunately being in canada its pinned to 5......... >:(
bought it last year (2012) when i picked it out from the crate i thought, since my friend had a 1953, 1954, 1955, and a 1956 that i could fill in the gap by collecting this model. by the way is yours Tula manufactured? or Izhevsk factory?
Thank. You.
Love the SKS...are we going to be able to use the bayonet?
You know damn right, that's why I made a bloody version too ;)
I really like how the blood turned out.

Great model.
funfact, small numbers were issued at the end of the war along with the rpd machinegun.
The magazine is at too sharp an angle!!!
SKS is not made on the basis of SVT40
Sweet! My grandpa has the same gun :)
