Love them, though i wonder if its lore-friendly according to wikia description of these creatures:

"The betty netch, the female of the species, is smaller than the male bull netch, but fiercely territorial. Cured netch skin, durable, flexible, and variously colored, is used throughout the Empire in garments, armor, weapons, household goods, and furnishings."

I wonder if "variously colored" is referred to the betty netches found in the wild or the treatment their skin receives after being peeled off.

I think 'variously colored" refer to the treatment to their skin after being peeled off. In this case it doesn't really matter as the color only applies to the "hat", and not the skin.
