MOONBASE!

The theme is simple, but complex and confusing, as all science-fiction should be. It involves 1950s comic perceptions of the moon and American versus Soviet space-race propaganda. Players control one of several highly-eccentric and stereotypical characters on either the Soviet or American team.

Gameplay involves standard team-play battle, but with an element of strategy. You see, the moon is strewn with strange technological resources, which can be acquired and used by your team to build better weapons, robots, armaments, and, finally, earth-shattering lasers and nuclear missiles to attack the USSR or the US. Fighting over this moon junk is what began the Secret Battle for The Moon. That, and some long-standing jealousies involving beards, American women, and Tang.

Core weapons include various rayguns, lasers, phasers, and heat guns. A tech tree allows us to have a vast range of creative weaponry so that nobody ever gets bored.

Special effects are dramatically cheesy, in the style of 50s movies and TV shows.

Designs of bases, vehicles, characters, and the moonscape itself follow early 20th century perceptions of future technologies, complete with high-tech moon-colors such as bright red, orange, and yellow.

Commies have terrible accents to match their terrible beards, and drink vodka. Americans have names like "Joe" and "Duke", tend to overact, and will smoke cigarettes incessantly.
