So we're experimenting with adding more traders to the game. Basically, we're turning key NPCs into traders so you have a much bigger arsenal to choose from when you have too much cash. NPCs in question are: Nimble, Sultan, Trapper, Loki, and Col. Shulga. These guys will sell weapons depending on their faction, preference, and weapons of choice. For instance, Trapper will be selling mostly hunting weapons, pump action shotguns, double barreled shotguns, bolt action rifles, and certain other guns as well as hunting equipment like Hunter's kit, and maybe some outfits. Nimble will be selling his unique weapons and exotic weapons that you won't come across that often in your journey. In addition, Nimble will most likely loose his ordering script, making him an absolute trader from whom you can buy weapons and his special outfits whenever you want.

P.S: Images are done using wip trading files, what you see on the traders' side will be changed accordingly.

This is actually awesome and makes perfect sense seeing just how many weapons are in the game atm. Would be cool if there was a possibility to lock certain traders if player doesn't have good relations with their faction, for example Loki wouldn't sell his stuff to Duty supportive players. Cool idea either way.

Of course there will be penalties and benefits from siding with factions, side with freedom and you lose some duty gear, and vice versa. Fully closing the trading option is not a viable solution with the engine.

Isn't it possible to remove his inventory completely so that when you trade there is nothing there.

I think not, unless we completely lock it from the start and make it unlock after certain relations level. For me your idea is more logical, best would be: start - faction leader sells some basic kit, get good relations - faction leader sells hi-end kit, get bad relations - faction leader locks their sales. But I'm not sure if this exact system can be made, will look and try my best though

Maybe to add Snag, that sneaky bastard that steal items from you. When you finish quest with him and spare him instead of killing him, he might become trader as well. He hangs around in Yanov for the rest of playtrough, so it is more/less safe NPC to be trader.

But, have to be carefull with choosing all of them in close proximity from each other, it might create a lot of trade exploits.

Remember you meet Snag later outside Yanov station, if he's a trader people will most luckily let him die, or even kill him for the sake of him loot. It's best to not use him, or any npc that tends to go outside the safe zone. Come to think about it, I think we got the best key npcs, I don't think there is any other npc who can become a trader.

Nifty. I've seen some other mods do this, and while it makes sense for Loki & Shulga to have something to offer, I've never seen anyone do the same with Sultan. Although that would open up a funny paradox...

"Morgan? A trader in Duty? Impossible! What low life scum!"
Col. Shulga: (shifty eyes)

We could even turn other NPCs into traders, we will see who's up for the deal as long as no one can kill them outside the safe zone.

I think Sultan is pretty obvious choice for trader since as bandit boss he has ties with Mercs, who get top shelf stuff

Damn shame about Nimble losing his order script, i found it really neat.

We're doing a favor to the game actually, Nimble is literally ripping you off with his orders, you pay 60k+ for an order in which you could get a gun that is not even worth 30k. Where is the logic in that? With our approach you pay for what you choose, not what you're forced to choose.

He already does, his guns always cost more than the normal ones, and the way the script is done is plain cheap.

You could also maybe make hatchet sell stuff so that you aren't as tempted to kill him for his loot. It would make a good source of western rifles.

Most people kill hatchet on the spot, it'll be a really cheap exploit giving players so much guns and loot so early in the game. We will avoid all similar npcs, only npcs you can't kill can be turned into traders.

Yeh, that makes sense. It would be like Tremor but worse...

Yeah, and we both know how greedy some stalkers tend to be when they see a rich NPC.
