Hi, I have a question which is if its posible to somehow reduce the smoke the weapons give out or alter them.

For now, the only option I have is modifying the config files to not include the smoke particles, it works, but no smoke at all comes out of the gun, and Id like if there is a posibility to have some smokes but a bit reduced than the original.

It seems that with the original config files, the smoke tends to lower performance as well as make it harder to see what is being shot at using ironsights while using static lighting it is very visible and thick for me.

Better yet. I would really appreciate if instead of smoke, there was a quick muzzle flash effect.
I am kind of forced to play without smoke particles because from 60 fps i go to about 25 when using full auto.

You can go to textures\pfx, take pfx_smoke_a.dss, pfx_smoke_b.dds, pfx_smoke_rs0.dds, all the way to pfx_smoke_rs5.dds, edit those or replace them with something with smaller resolution and quality. This should help you keep a realistic smoke while saving up some frames. The reason why we put a high quality smoke is to reflect how the gun power quality is in the zone, and the smoke is dynamic now rather than static as it was in vanilla MISERY.

As for muzzle flame, we do have that, but in a realistic way, not movie style. Real life weapons don't always create muzzle flames, same case in TAZ, all guns create some flames every now and then, and these flames have no impact on performance as they're very low visibility.

Thank you for response. Yes I thought of editing those before but was not sure if they were the ones that affected the weapon smoke.

Well I have significantly reduced the resolution of the smoke files and I do not notice any difference from the original smoke but the performance is now much much better.

Here is a google drive link if anyone wants to try them out. Drive.google.com

Just wondering, are you using the latest patch 1.12.3 updated?
