Something that has for long been a myth for many people (including myself) is finally coming together. I'll try to explain what sigma is and what makes it so special, as well as some of the new changes / paradigms involved in it. Median XL: Sigma is basically a co-op project between the entire Median XL team. But... what exactly makes this patch any different to other ones?
It uses an enhanced engine. To briefly explain this, imagine Diablo II as an old building with people living in it. What median does is, change the people living in it, their clothes, etc. It adds new people with new patches and it removes people who behave badly. But there are limitations, some rooms have too many people in them, and things can get messy. The enhanced engine (or core, from now on) is the main feature of sigma, and what this does is replace the stairs with elevators, makes the rooms bigger, and a lot of other things that would normally not be possible.
(*) Ever wondered why Median replaces existing areas rather than adding new ones? Or why does act 4 have no uberquests? This is because of a limitation that doesn't allow you to add new areas to the game. This, however, will be possible in sigma.
And so much more. You can check this Forum.median-xl.com topic to see some of the core patch features. Note that a lot of it is a bit techy, but you will see some of these features reflected as comprehensive changes in the changelog when the time comes. Plus, if you don't like reading, you might as well check Forum.median-xl.com topic to see some cool screenshots.

Also will Sigma have Barb minions ACTUALLY follow you? It's kind of really stupid that they don't.
Not really. It can be a little annoying, but it is one of the ways that make it so a Necro summoner and Barb summoner are two very different playstyles. If you want your summons to follow you around, there's already a class for that.
I'm wondering, how do you change the colors of item qualities? I want to figure out if you can do it via hex editing (and how), or if you can do it via D2 Excel editing, and which file to edit to do so with.
I ask because I badly want to make the Unique color, or Rare color not suck total crap and be really similar to one another by making one or the other Red or some specifically different color in color in mods other than this one.
when is the release date?
This gonna be the only mod in the world I have and will ever recommend before i have tried it my self. I just know it is good. Merry Christmas. I recommend it to all Diablo gamers!

It's 2016/5 and still waiting....
Is this released yet? If so where can we download it?I prefer an answer from the dev itself.
Initially this was going to be a spin-off/expansion to Median XL: Ultimative. But since the project is so big and takes time, the features of this mod are being added to Median XL: Ultimative. A patch that is coming soon will feature +35 new class skills, which was one of the big things about sigma. If everything is alright, the next patch after this one should be indeed Sigma, and there's a possibility of Brother Laz coming back as a dev.
So, i know this is a late reply but, since it is 2016 and XVI is released, that means when the developers released the patches that gave skills such as werewolf and the Barbarian's two-handed skills, that was SIGMA?
I'd definitely love to have Brother Laz back. I want to thank you for keeping Median alive and improving it. Ánimo y mucha suerte, camarada! ; )
