Special & Non-player - AI/NPC Vehicles Actually i'm recreating the tactical guide for mechcommander beginners and players. Since NoGutsNoGalaxy.net is lost - the only copy of information seems to be the one on my personal backup. I upload the information with some cosmetical redesign here on ModDB. This is Part X of the MechCommander/MC Player's Guide:

Special Gifts & Non-Player Vehicles

There are more vehicles in MechCommander. But they are not available to buy. You will only see them on the battlefield as civilian vehicles and enemy units or mission gifts.

004 MobileArtillery LongTom

Long Tom - Mobile Artillery (Just available as Mission-Gift)

LongTom Mobile Artillery

The Mobile Long Tom was essentially an artillery piece on wheels. Known in official Star League records as the LT-MOB-25, it is actually six vehicles all hooked together as part of a massive convoy. This combat vehicle was first produced for the Star League Defense Force and the design soon became common in the every military throughout the Inner Sphere and Periphery.

The main unit was a 65-ton tracked vehicle and the only one in the convoy that possessed an, admittedly meager, engine capable of only 25.6 km/h and requiring constant refueling. This piloting cab also served as the targeting center, featuring an additional ton of communication equipment and the mounted weaponry. However the vehicle was protected by a scant four tons of armor, though it was not supposed to be anywhere near combat. For this reason the Long Tom relied on defensive units for anti-air support.

APC - Armored Personnel Carrier (Just available as Mission-Gift)

001 Armored Personnel Carrier

The APC carries people and keeps a good armor protection and firepower for a small vehicle. In some missions players will get some APC as mission gift to play with. Usually the APC transports a pilot to his mech or has to capture a building with prisoners inside to get them out. When you accidantly capture the objective building for APC with another unit don´t worry, you just need to bring your APC at low distance to that building, mission objective will be complete and the prisoners will be in APC ready to head for extraction points or whatever.

  • Weight: 10 tons
  • Type: Armored Personnel Carrier / Supply

  • Weight: 8 tons
  • Type: Light wheeled tank
  • Speed: 27 m/s
  • Armor: Very light

  • Speed: 15 m/s
  • Armor: light

SALVAGE RIG

SalvageRig

In some cases, Salvage Rigs can be captured on the battlefield. They may contain salvage at the end of a mission. Good luck, MechCommander!

ORDINANCE TRUCK

Ordinance TruckOrdinance Truck 1

Ordinance trucks may although be salvageable in some cases. But most of the time you escort - or destroy them in order to weaken enemies supplies.

CARGO TRUCK

Cargo Truck
Cargo carriers. Nothing more. Totally unarmed and not so fast. They are usually guarded by fast 'Mechs. Beneath that unit there exist salvage trucks (some may contain nice equipment). On some missions you may get the order to protect such vehicles / convoys - on others you need to destroy enemy convoys or capture its load.

  • Cost: xXx
  • Weight: 40 tons
  • Type: Support Vehicle
  • Speed: 18 m/s
  • Armor: Very light

FUEL TRUCK - TANKER

FuelTrucks
Tankers carry large amounts of fuel and ther flammable liquids. When struck by enemy fire, the Tanker will explode, damaging everything in a 75 meters-wide area. Ideal to damage light 'Mechs and vehicles; "chain fire" of multiple Tankers can damage and/or destroy any 'Mech.

  • Cost: xXx
  • Weight: 55 tons
  • Type: support vehicle
  • Speed: 18 m/s
  • Armor: very light

TRAIN
Train

Traincomnbat
It is exactly the same thing of a Cargo Truck, but this time it moves on rail. When you destroy the locomotive, the other wagons won't be able to move. To be exactly, there are several train wagons, too. Be careful, trains can damage mechs badly when they are crossing each other, better keep distance to them and shoot from long range. Wagons usually explode.

  • Cost: xXx
  • Weight: 40 tons
  • Type: Support Vehicle
  • Speed: 18 m/s
  • Armor: Very Light

AEROSPACE SPOTTER

005 Aero Space SPotter
Though it has no weapons on its own, the Spotter can direct deadly Aerofighter attacks on you. Take them out at first sight, then scatter your 'Mechs to dodge the AF Strike. Each time you meet that unit type your primary objective should be always to destroy them first. No matter what enemy mechs may be aside of that vehicle. It´s airstrikes causes heavy damage to all of your units, so be aware!

  • Cost: xXx
  • Weight: 45 tons
  • Type: Support vehicle
  • Speed: 15 m/s
  • Armor: Light

Elemental Carrier

ElementalCarrier

The elemental carrier does transport and escort elementals. It was a tough armor but is not real enemy on the battlefield without any support units.

The elemental carrier never got used by the origin creators of MC. This unit was only used in customer made missions. But it works and extends MC's natural diversity.
