Age of the Ring 6.0 has been released. Please read the instructions!
Hi!
Time for Woodland Realm and Erebor 2.0! Surprise!
For a full list of changes, please refer to the CHANGELIST.
HOW TO INSTALL
First, make sure your RotWK is patched to 2.02 v8.0.1. Make sure that Edain, if installed, is disabled.
1. Download and open AotR6.0.rar using WinRAR or 7zip
2. Extract ALL files inside AotR6.0.rar into a new folder
3. Run AgeOfTheRingInstaller6.0.exe as Administrator
4. The installer creates a shortcut to Age of the Ring 6.0 on your desktop
********** PLEASE READ BELOW **********
- This is a full version. You don't need to have previous mod versions installed.
- You don't have to uninstall previous versions, but you might as well to save space
- The installer WILL NOT allow you to install the mod into your RotWK or BFME2 installation folder (this would BREAK your game)
- The installer WILL NOT allow you to install if you do not have RotWK patch 2.02 v8.01 enabled. You can enable this from the 2.02 Launcher.
- If you do not have 2.02 v8.01, you can get it HERE. Simply follow Step 1 and Step 2, and then use the 2.02 Launcher to set your version to 2.02 v8.01.
PLAYING ONLINE
For using T3A:Online, nothing has changed - just make sure RotWK is hooked from the T3A:Online Launcher.
For using Gameranger, please read the following article:

I don't know when the next update is coming out but I'd like to make a few suggestions about Inn units for some of the existing factions (in hope to make Inns a more unique experience):
*Half-Orc Marauders (Isengard) - In the books the so-called Half-Orcs of Saruman are well distinct from the Uruk-Hai. They are usually men of Dunnish origin and make up an elite fighting force in the armies of Isengard (Source: Tolkiengateway.net)

*Forochel Raiders (Misty Mountains) - The Lossoth are probably one of the most mysterious peoples of Middle-Earth since few information is known about them from the Third Age, including their allegiance. They seem to be in good terms with the Dunedain since the Dunedain bought from them the Ring of Barahir, but also they were bordering Angmar during the days of the Witch-King, so it's expectable for some of them to have fallen under the influence of Sauron. Regarding their culture, the Snowmen of Forochel themselves are descendant of the ancient Forodwaith, a term which in the early drafts of the Aelfwyne story, was used for the Vikings. So the idea of this unit's desing is "vikings under the service of Sauron" ie vikings in the older, barbarian-like stereotype, with horned helmets and such.

Avari Elves of the Woodland Realm - The "Warriors of Kinn-Lai" of the Woodland Realm faction are not the first asian-concepted elves. According to the link below, before Tauriel was written there was a rough concept for a female elf Huntress of the Woodland Realm and one of the considered appearances (Image on the Center Top Left with 'PT/WW' writing) is distinctly Chinese or Korean inspired. So if it's not much of a trouble for your team, I'd like to suggest redesigning the "Warriors of Kinn-Lai" and probably adding an Archer troop aswell. I favor this idea even for one more reason: The theme. That specific concept art has cold blueish color theme which connects them with Winter. Think about it: the more open Elves (Rivendell and Lothlorien) have a Spring/Summer theme. The more recluse (Woodland Realm) an Autumn theme. The Avari would be even more recluse so a Winter Theme would be most fit for them.

so awesome best rotwk mod of all time :)
This new update seems awesome but I have an issue : when launching either Skirmish or WotR, the Palantir menu doesn't appear so I can't do anything in game... Do you know how to fix this ?
I would recommend trying to reinstall the mod

i have an issue with installing the mod. i updated the 2.02 launcher and i select 2.02 v8.0.1 and apply, it then says succes- applied module 2.02 v8.0.1, i press OK, and when i try to install the mod using it says "you have a version higher than v8.0.1 enabled, please make sure that 2.02 is enabled on version 8.01" so what is the issue? the two messages contradict themselves. What can i do?
nevermind, i got it to work, i redownloaded the 2.02 launchers and now it works installing the new patch.
I have the same issue, but after redownloading and reinstalling both the 2.02 launcher and v8.4 there is no change for me. Should I consider reinstalling rotwk? Or is anyone else also having this issue??
AMAZING.
Is it possible to play with your own custom hero in the new army? It's grayed out, but I remembered that there was a key combination to chose a custom hero.
Rohan, Rivendell, Dol Guldur and Woodland Realm can use custom heroes. In the skirmish menu, open the custom heroes menu and type the first letter of your hero's name. You can then recruit them when you start the game.
Why the risen deads can only be recruited in the war for the ring?

the update is awesome, but as a casual player i find the new AI dificulties a bit too hard, i mean, i like to play "lorely" and i played a match were i was Woodland Realm, and had 2 Peasent allies, Lothlorien and Rivendell, against a medium Moror. He beat the crap out of us. The dificulties should be abit toned down.
Agreed. I am an occasional player, and was so excited when Mirkwood finally came out! I've just been compensating by giving the enemies a handicap, which has been working out pretty well actually.

i just lost a match against a "Peasent" AI.. as a casual just got to say that this new "dificulties" suck.. your mod is not only for pros or multiplayer you know? or you made this mod just for that? because more of the playerbase of this mod is casual players..and why siege units have more range than siege units from the walls? that doesnt make any logical sense..
Is it an RTS that you expected? Difficulty and strategy is normal in this type of game, maybe these games are not your thing, put a handicap on the AI if it is too much for you.
i mostly play RTS games, played this game since vanilla and played this game before 6.0 patch, never got a problem with a easy computer, but now.. its too much for a casual player.
Know the faction with which you play and know your enemy, the vanilla AI was simple even in Brutal, in my opinion, here it has more challenge and that is fun in my opinion, just practice with each faction to dominate it and you will see that it is not It is so difficult.
