This mod started out as a compilation of all those other mods that add new styles to Jade Empire. Eventually I figured out how to add styles myself and added a few more. All in all there's around 40 styles now. 50 if you count weapon upgrades as well. Quite a lot of styles have been modified. Some have been re-balanced. To others I've added new effects. And some have been re-purposed entirely. But I didn't stop at adding and modding styles either. There are new gem armors, new techniques, new merchants, brand new concepts like specializations... I can say without the slightest bit of exaggeration, that this is the largest mod for Jade Empire out there. In fact: It is many times larger than all other mods combined and that is not just because it *contains* so many other mods. The last time I checked the codebase totaled to 25,000 lines. In other words: This mod is a complete overhaul.

Here is a list of bugs that Bioware left unfixed and unpatched. They are not bugs of this mod. Bioware could probably fix them. I cannot. I would need access to the engine's source code to do so.

  1. Every once in a while after going to a different area or at the end of a cutscene, the camera will point to the ground and remain stuck in that angle. Going back to the previous area or saving and reloading will "fix" this.
  2. The pathfinding algorithm is prone to detect obstacles where there are none, which causes your character to jump into the wrong direction.
  3. When you change between styles often and fast, you sometimes get "stuck" between styles. When you're stuck between Death's Razor and Viper e.g. you will assume a Viper stance, but have the two weapons equipped. The only attack you can perform is the strong attack, which will look like Viper's strong attack but do damage like Death's Razor's strong attack and also have the latter's knockback effect. Switching to a third style "fixes" this issue.
  4. A variation of #3 that is so annoying it deserves is its own category are the transformation bugs. Every once in a while transforming back into your regular self fails. Your appearance will still be the transformation, but you will fight with the style to which you've just switched. As a "fix" switch back to the transformation and then back to the desired style. You will most likely have to do this twice.
  5. When you press the block key, while an enemy has confused you with Hidden Fist, you will walk sideways instead of blocking. That, of course, is useful behaviour, because you cannot actually block while you're confused. But occassionally this special behaviour is also used, when your character is *not* confused and *would* be able to block. That usually causes you to take lots of damage through no fault of your own. If you notice this behaviour, let go of the block key and press it again. That usually "fixes" it.
  6. Under certain circumstances the block key will fail entirely. Your action queue may be empty and you're not pressing any other key, but still your character won't block. This bug is a variation of #5, I presume.
  7. Area attacks are excruciatingly difficult to perform in Jade Empire, because the game engine is lousy at detecting simultaneous button clicks. Surprisingly often your character will perform a regular attack or a strong attack instead. That usually causes you to take lots of damage. Don't blame yourselves! Blame LTI (the company who made the PC port)!
  8. Two of the guards in Kang's workshop on the pirate island do not enter combat and remain standing in place. Unfortunately that place is in front of a door, which means they block the player's progress for good. Most players don't experience this bug, but for a small group of unlucky ones, this one is reproduceable. Unfortunately I belong to the former group. Were I part of the latter group, I could probably fix this one... As a workaround I wrote the Pirate Workshop Hack.
