Israeli Defense Force: Fight for Independence is a Total Conversion modification for the PC game Battlefield 2 (A.K.A. BF2). What we aim to achieve with this mod is to immerse the player into the historic wars involving Israel, Syria, Egypt, and Jordan, which are the 6-Day War, the War of Attrition, and the Yom Kippur War. The player will be able to play as a common soldier, crewmember, or pilot in these wars. The mod will feature historically accurate equipment such as the famous Russian AK-47, the fearsome SO-4050 bomber, the menacing IS3 and M48 tanks, and much, much more. Also, the maps will recreate actual battles that happened in these wars, to complete a historically-accurate and immersive modification. IDF:FFI is also a member of the acclaimed cooperative gaming studio Black Sand Studios.

Description

The Fabrique Nationale Model 1949 (often referred to as the FN-49, SAFN or AFN) is a rifle available as both a semi-automatic rifle and as a selective fire automatic rifle. It was used by many militaries including Egypt.

The FN-49 was not developed in time for use in World War II and it found itself in direct competition with a number of other post World War II rifles such as the Heckler & Koch G3 and FN's own FN FAL, resulting in limited sales. The FN 1949 is "not" ammunition specific since it has an adjustable gas port to adjust the rifle to various types of ammunition including .30-06 Springfield, 7.92 Mauser, 7.92 NATO and others. Ammuntion was loaded through stripper clips into the 10 round fixed magazine similar to the K-98 and other stripper clip feed rifles. Although later Argentine FN's were modified to use the detachable 20 round magazine from the FN FAL rifle.

The Egyptian government ordered a contract in 1948 for 100 rifles chambered to fire the 8×57mm Mauser cartridge. While initially a small contract delivery, Egypt would eventually purchase 37,602 SAFN 1949 rifles total. The Egyptian SAFNs where used in all of wars that the Egyptian armies fought in during the 1950's through 1970's. Egypt used them in the intended role as a battle rifle but also as a sniper rifle by adding a sniper scope. The were used less and less by the Egyptian army as they began to recieve and build more modern rifles.

This amazing model and texture was created and shared with us by Akshay Kumar. We is working on a few other weapons for us including the Rasheed and Hakim rifles. You can see more of Akshays impressive work at his website.
