Israeli Defense Force: Fight for Independence is a Total Conversion modification for the PC game Battlefield 2 (A.K.A. BF2). What we aim to achieve with this mod is to immerse the player into the historic wars involving Israel, Syria, Egypt, and Jordan, which are the 6-Day War, the War of Attrition, and the Yom Kippur War. The player will be able to play as a common soldier, crewmember, or pilot in these wars. The mod will feature historically accurate equipment such as the famous Russian AK-47, the fearsome SO-4050 bomber, the menacing IS3 and M48 tanks, and much, much more. Also, the maps will recreate actual battles that happened in these wars, to complete a historically-accurate and immersive modification. IDF:FFI is also a member of the acclaimed cooperative gaming studio Black Sand Studios.

Description

The T-34 was a Soviet medium tank that had a profound and lasting effect on the field of tank design. At its introduction, the T-34 possessed an unprecedented combination of firepower, mobility, protection and ruggedness. Although its armour and armament were surpassed later in the war, it has often been credited as the most effective, efficient and influential tank design of the Second World War. The T-34 is one of the most-produced and longest-lived tanks of all time. Soviet industry would eventually produce over 80,000 T-34s of all variants. T-34 variants were widely exported after World War II.

In 1955, Czechoslovakia and Egypt signed an agreement for shipment of a variety of vehicles and armament. This included over 800 Czechoslovak built T-34/85's.These were used as the Egyptian Armies main tank until more modern tanks were acquired. The fought in the 1956 Suez Crisis, the 1967 Six Day war and some even fought in the 1973 Yom Kippur war. Being basically a WW II tank, it began to show its age against more modern tanks. Like the Israeli's that upgraded the WW II Sherman tanks, the Egyptians had several upgraded variants of the T-34 to make it more effective. Egypt went on to build the T-34/100, a local and unique conversion that was made up of a Soviet BS-3 100 mm heavy field-artillery gun mounted within a modified turret of the T-34-85. Egypt also built the even more powerful T-34/122. This conversion was a self-propelled howitzer armed with a 122 mm D-30 howitzer in a heavily modified turret. The changes included flat-plate extensions in the front, sides, rear and top of the turret. This is the first self-propelled artillery we are sharing with you. We plan to add several more types for all sides, which will bring tremendous mobile fire power to the battlefield.
