The goal of this mod is to bring back the units from the original Homeworld into the Homeworld 2 engine, with high quality texture and polycount detail. The campaign and animatics from the original game will also be included.
The Ion frigate.
I'm not very sure about this one, i'm trying to be true to the concept, but i prefer the old engine merged with bridge design.
The new engine and bridge parts are by Null Entity.
I'd be unsure as well, I'd be choosing the old concept because otherwise it looks like a throat and would be a very weak structural area.
interesting concept. I wait on first complete release!
Like the top left very much.. The sketch top right is also really epic.. Both variants should work just fine.
bottom left may be closer to the original but in this special case new is indeed better.
At first i thought you were gonna redo the derelict ion frigate that has 2 ion ports but looks like not, thou you made this one look like the derelict variant a whole lot.
I completely agree with that, because the original frigates doesn't have a lower part which leans forward.
I think that we should keep the original design, that way we open up the possibility for the Derelict version.
They all have a "lower part that leans foreward". The concept, the 'derilect', and the final version that made it in-game... and Jk's version

Do you know what we need for this project?
Something like this:
Sugarsync.com
(a unit viewer)
I've seen some for HW2, but I couldn't find it anymore, it's somewhere in RELIC's foruns ...
But how do we add models to it?? It has team colors, but it doesn't suport the glow maps.
For the HW1 it's just throwing the ship files to the folder.
For HW2, as I mentioned, there's no one. The only I've found, I've lost track somewhere inside relic's foruns. And as far as I remember it wasn't working.
Looks good man, didn't know you were working on this else I would have offered to spend a day detailing it!. :)
I wonder, will you make a detailed version of the original Ion canon?
when it comes to design of course, because the original is not detailed.
You lost me on that.. as it stands I'm just remaking the Frigs closer to the concepts with more detail for the mod (the posibly some other ships time/work load not withstanding).
It looks pretty good!
I think useing the old concept art was a good idea now it looks like the Ion cannon frigate I always wanted to see, that and it looks similar to the old Derelict version, but without the lower ion cannon which makes sense.
Maybe you should use it in your mod as a Strong anti capitalship destroyer because the Turanic version has other things like extended range, moves slower, turns faster and can cloak once it's researched.
No Ray, i'm keeping it as true to the original as possible, this is just visual enhancement mod. But what i can do is add the upgraded versions from the concepts - Homeworldshots.net
Damn JK that looks very cool :D
That upgraded version looks so cool but a bit weird it is, I mean the beam itself is created in the ship itself, how could an exitended hi tech pipe improve it's uses?
I guess that it could increase the range and possibly make it able to deal more damage but with the result of the ship having it harder to maneuver and possibly a reduced max speed or acceleration.
Where I/we can get to see more of these concepts?
At the root of that link, HW Shiyards and a lot more places, just look around for it.

I'm sorry Jk but I don't like this one. Apart the fact that I prefer the old bridge-engine design (maybe a mid-way between the old and the concept design?), the ship has too many antennas and the top-frontal part you added doesn't fit it in my opinion; last the muzzle, I don't see what you've done exactly but didn't you write that you were trying to remain true to the concept?
I think the problem is right your willingness to stay true to the the concept, which I don't see on the ship by the way. The ship that was put in game is a different thing from the one in the concept in my opinion, you added concept elements on it and it doesn't work for me.
Sorry, I don't care for it at all. The additions and changes to the engines/bridge add too much complexity to the overall shape. The added blocky-ness reminds me of Taiidan design.
Interesting new(?) logo. I like how it's based on the original boxart rather than the game of the year boxart.
