In the eyes of Ray Young, the Heart of Man is rife with greed, hate and corruption. He learned that in the war, where he witnessed atrocities so severe that, upon returning home, he settled in a little cave in the woods to escape the trauma.
But between hunting his own food, digging for his own resources and writing poetry for leisure time, he's been waiting for the day God himself will call upon him to save the Earth from the impending apocalypse.
Now, in the year 2020, a new war has arrived at Ray Young's doorstep. An army of demons and devil-worshipers now roam Earth, wreaking havoc on its inhabitants. To stop them, Ray abandons his humble cabin and returns to his home city to put an end to the invasion.
Special features for this WAD include:
- 9 new maps for Doom 2, including one secret map
- 10 original pieces of music influenced by a wide array of genres and styles (from The RZA to Ministry to John Carpenter)
- Text screens providing story and character context.

Man, this was fun to make. Even though it took me years to make a basic 9 map mod that anyone else could have done in a matter of weeks, I'm still pretty happy with how this came out. If nothing else, I think it will be a unique experience for anyone who decides to play it.
Heart of Man: A Soldier's Story follows a war veteran whose lived for decades in isolation, waiting for the day God himself would call upon him to save the world. It features 9 new Doom II maps, and 10 original music tracks.
I had to take a few liberties here and there. There was originally a couple sound sequences that got cut, one referencing Cypress Hill, another adding a horror element in level 4. And there were a few cut scenes I had to leave out as well, which I'll probably post. But, for the most part, this came out about as well as I intended.
I had to use regular ass intermission screens instead of my make-shift ones, which are actually advertised in my screenshots.
Anyways, this is a good mod. Trust me. It's about a religious nut. You'll like it.
