Introduced at the tail-end of the Great War in 2549, the Strident-class Heavy Frigate saw sporadic use in some of the final battles against the Covenant - in particular the defense of Concord in late 2551. Equipped with three massive Hyperion-class nuclear missiles, and a single heavy MAC, they have since become a staple of the UNSC Navy in the tumultuous post-war years. Strident's are rarely seen far from naval depots, due to their relatively lackluster munitions supplies. They make up for this with a devastating alpha-strike capability, allowing them to quickly eliminate key threats to their battlegroups.
