You'll be able to mess around with the team colours just like normal homeworld 2 ships, i'm expecting to see lots of terribad black and red or purple and green combos when we impliment it.

That is very beautiful but my heart was pounding as I was very excited as I saw an update and then disappointed I was hoping so much that I would be playing right now with the beta

However as a concept it is freaking beautiful

I'd say you're going the right direction with team color placement.

I really wanted to do some custom badges, but that would mean removing CnlPepper shaders because the badge shader is not supported.

Use subsystem badges.

Wouldn't make a difference, all badges use the badge shader, which is unsupported.

That's not what I mean. Make several subsystems for a ship that are placed over the existing "badge" that's part of the hull texture. Make the subsystem as flush with the hull as possible, and texture it so it looks indistinguishable from the rest of the ship. Then draw a badge on each subsystem, just as you have drawn a badge on the hull of the ship. You'll need one subsystem for each badge you want to allow player to use. It would be like a simpler version of what Pouk had to do to create a way to name all the large ships in his mod: Moddb.com

Of course, since it doesn't use the badge shader, the average user won't be able to use their own custom badges, but at least they'll have some options.

Maybe something in the future, but that's very tedious work, especially for every ship.

Description

Thought i may as well share it. This is photoshopped, so don't expect it in game for a while, we're just trying to get an idea of how to go about it. It's also just a demonstration of the direction we'll go in with team colours. If you prefer colourless UNSC, then you can use the slider just like normal and set the team colours to grey etc.

Emblem changing won't work according to Zero, something to do with cnlpepper's shaders.

Next public release will be over the next few days. I've tried it and told Zero what last minute changes need making, the biggest being a slight tweak to a test map to re-place the asteroid fields to be further from the start position.
