Our representation of Halo's iconic space combat in the Homeworld 2 engine, which puts the player in command of some of the most powerful weapons fielded by the UNSC and Covenant and to provide a balanced and competitive experience.
The SMAC is pretty iconic, but dated. As with everything else, i've tried my best to bring it in line with Reach's style of graphics and updated the design to fit with certain gameplay mechanics better, such as adding turret hardpoints to the ring.
In the words of that little critter on the car ad "I think I just wet my pants" O.o
something alike the perimetral defenses, but bigger and much better?
i guess its only weakness are bombers XD
THANK YOU for adding turret hardpoints. I never understood why they didn't have those on the originals...
are they one shot moves or can you move them around wherever you like?
Undecided yet. Most likely a one shot move like the other stations, however it'll be able to shoot half way accross the map.
well then placement is irrelevent so long as you give them decent protection these babies will obliterate anthing that comes into range anyway 8D
one shot is probably the best way to go.
ya because if it wasn't i'd move them along the outer ring of the map with several destroyers and cruisers as escorts and just destroy every thing with several platforms rotating around the map on a rampage
You'd still have to find the enemy, and keep the spotting ships alive long enough for the station to rotate around and fire - Using it offensively will definitely leave you open to counter attack by splitting your forces in order to spot for it, so it's ultimately going to be balanced around being a defensive weapon with room to be creatively offensive.
If youv ever played Homeworld Complex you could make it like the shipyard torpedo tubes so you have to buy a new shot after every fire of the cannon
Those well go threw a Covenant super carrier in one shot. Amazing and big they are.
Bear in mind, with the immense firepower, you will only ever get ONE of these. And you'll want to either disable enemy ships with a Prowler EMP or station it close enough to stations or immobile fleets because it will track slow, as you'd expect. Still, like Battle8111 said, it's a one-shot KO weapon.
EDIT: Nevermind
These look incredibly awesome!! I can't wait to see it modeled and textured.
does it have a 5 second reload time
No. It would be ridiculously overpowered if it did.
Either a 5 second reload and horrible turn speed, or an accurate turn speed and a long reload time.
Probably the latter.
will this one shot all the covy ships as well
It'll probably one shot a CCS, and completely disable anything bigger.
Anything smaller, and replace the phrase "one shot" with "vaporize."
how big?
YAY now we can fully reinact the Battle of Earth >:) better yet make an entire mission about it :D
