Our representation of Halo's iconic space combat in the Homeworld 2 engine, which puts the player in command of some of the most powerful weapons fielded by the UNSC and Covenant and to provide a balanced and competitive experience.
Since everything so far is in-game, I'm starting to re-balance maps for the trade route idea we came up with. While I'm at it, I thought I might as well spruce up the asteroids and bring them more in line with the quality of the planets and ships.
The one in the background is the stock asteroid with the stock texture while the one in the foreground is the stock asteroid with the new texture. And let me tell you, getting the bump just right was a real pain!
Nice 'roid ;-)
Thanks! Though credit for the model goes to Relic. :P
I've noticed a lot of mods these days don't really pay attention to asteroids and I got quite bored looking at the stock ones. Plus, the bump makes them unique as it's quite easy to re-skin them but not to re-bump them.
You could also take the model of the Asteroids in the fifth mission of the campaign "Gehenna". They have doors and suit well to your trade-route ideas :)
Yeah I have a few of those lying around and that was original how we were going to do mining and stuff. However, that idea never came to light and where we are at now, I can't think of a way to implement something like that.
I see :/
If you have ideas, I'm open to suggestions!
Nice, now it doesn't look like a boulder floating through space.
Looks a lot more realistic.
Well done
I personally dont mind about these stuffs.
Anyway it's good.
Well I have to give myself something to do since I currently have nothing to texture and I'm not the best coder in the world.
Every new thing is welcome.
What about changing the color of these pods (i actually dont know what are they) on top of the two side hangars of paris-class frigate and hermes-class frigate?
If you have played reach you sure have seen the color is darker, much like these dark red stripes on current Halcyon-class cruiser.
Mmh maybe darker than Halcyon stripes...
I've been meaning to clean that up. Everything under the cruisers were my first works and are very very messy. It'll probably result in me re-texturing them again.
Personally i think that's unnecessary, they dont look poor, just these pods ( do you know what are they? because i dont )
with that red , totally breaks the realistic feeling of the ships.
It's not that the texture looks poor or anything, it's that it is not very well optimized for HW2. Right now it has several material paths instead of one or two.
Oh, well i guess this contribute to lagging issues when units are high.
If so it's a good idea trying to re-texture it with a single but various texture.
I hope to see soon some early models of Thanatos-Class Destroyer, as it has a really nice design.
About it i have a question, does it mount one of these single heavy StS cannon just forward bridge?
Because if so, it will be the only frigate-size ship equipped with cruisers stuff.
Yes, the turret on the bow is the single siege turret on the cruisers.
i think i remember reading those pods being some kind of nuke but it dosent sound right with there being so manny
In the concept art for the Reach frigate, they are labeled as nukes, yes, but they aren't really nukes on the final model. I have no idea what they are, probably EVA access hatches or something.
Nukes you said?
Doesn't UNSC bring just one or maximum two nukes per ship?
Here pods are twelve!!!
I always thought of them as escape pods or something like that.

Ok, these arent shiva class...
Interesting, these triangular spots, i always thought they were some other kind of AA missiles but now i discover they are the actual escape pods.
I mean these pods...
