Our representation of Halo's iconic space combat in the Homeworld 2 engine, which puts the player in command of some of the most powerful weapons fielded by the UNSC and Covenant and to provide a balanced and competitive experience.
Seeing as this will be the last ship i do i figured i'd do a more polished concept. Thanks to SOTP for letting me use elements of one of their halcyon textures to give this thing a bit more of a texture.
I made it a bit more in line with the Reach frigate for obvious reasons, and completely redid the bridge because that bit has always bothered me. The new one is more in keeping with the pointed look of the rest of the ship. I imagine if it had a horn it'd probably play sound like very angry dubstep.
*When i say polished i mean by my own messy standards.
N0000 V3L0 d0n7 90
90? Surely 6 is a better G?
9=g
6=G
How about speaking with correct grammar and spelling?
Anyway, you get the message =(
I like.
Well...boner.
hello beautiful
I do approve, t'was the one ship I most was looking forward.
Any idea of the date of new release and it's contenent?
Talos, Marathon, Thanatos, tweaked maps, new miner, narwhal repurposed as a late game unit, implimentation of our new "supply lanes" resourcing system. A new turret and rebalanced Orhtrus destroyer.
Oh, and it should run better. We optimised the FX and ship textures so both idle and in battle frame rate drops should be minimal.
THANK YOU OH GOD THANK YOU
Good, Marathon, Talos and Thanatos are really good looking ships and it will add variety to the skirmishes.
I was really hoping for the add of these exact models of ships.
Have you ever thought to add the Stalwart-Class Frigate or the Charon-class Frigate as early game ships?
Even if i see you already have Hermes-Class doing what Charon should do, you dont have a light frigate as Stalwart.
And possibly the charon-class could serve as a marine frigate to hijack covenant smallest vessels when their shields are off...
Charon could deploy pelicans instead of the standard pods of marine frigate.
We're not adding the other frigate "classes" no. We're also not having boarding as a gameplay mechanic.
As an end when the unsc ships are about to die have you thought about having escape pods leaving the ship as well as pelicans (maybe have some carrying tanks and warthogs as well as other vehicles from the games)
They'd disappear after a while. It'd be possible to have pods inside the wreckage but it's not really worth it given that we can't implement it in a 100% satisfying manner.
It would be good to watch them leave. I always for some reason feel guilty thinking that the ships just died on my watch (sad I know also very strange for me as I suspect I could watch the world end and enjoy it as well) it would help watching them leave especially if it hey we're reasources you could pick up you know watch them get rescued
Just do it as a death effect. The pods don't even have to be visible. Just the gas jets from the ejections would work. Then it wouldn't clutter things up.
Maybe in the future, right now however there are more important things to implement.
You could make it so if you pick them up you get a small RU bonus. It would be less than the cost of the ship of course.
Ah, and a last thing i noticed on the Halcyon-Class Cruiser:
Is it intended that normal Halcyons (i mean not the PoA from firefight) doesn't carry as much Phalanx as PoA does?
Or is it a bug?
And finally, when Marathon will be introduced, will the Halcyon be radiated?
I think the POA is beefed up with extra weapons, armour, etc. It's not a bug, it's just to show that the PoA was an upgraded Halcyon with much more fire power. It also helps it survive in firefight.
What do you mean radiated?
Replaced possibly. If so from what I have seen no, unless that isn't what you mean the. Sorry
Sorry but english it's not my native launguage LOL, i mean it will be put out of service?
I hope not.
However, check out your standard Halcyon model because even if it doesn't have some phalanx, it still has the supports where the extra one are attached and they are ugly, especially if you have seen the firefight PoA.
It's not being put out of service no. Our halcyon is meant to represent a refitted halcyon that's brought up to the standards of a modern UNSC cruiser. It's not got as much firepower but it's more durable.
That doesn't seem quite right. Refitted Halcyons are better than normal Halcyons in every aspect. Armor, Firepower, probably even Speed.
The Halcyon and Marathon will both still be present in the mod. As it is right now, the two are very equal in terms of combat, yet very different. The Halcyon has superior armor compared to the Marathon, however, the Marathon is a flying space AC-130 and is loaded with heavy turrets and cannons. In a 1v1 fight between the two, it is very close and ultimately comes down to micro-management. The Marathon has 2 MACs, and yields more damage, but the Halcyon can soak it up fairly well and while it only has one MAC, it recycles fairly quickly.
So look at it this way, the Marathon is the heavy finisher on the offense while the Halcyon is more enduranced based and defensive.
I have just noticed that in your last video (where you compare Halcyon to Marathon) that, Halcyon has all the phalanx (and this Halcyon isnt the PoA) so it seems that in the next release they are going to be the same (PoA and standard Halcyon).
Yes, what you're referring to has been fixed.
Well, good guys i gave the mod 10/10 as it is really fun and well made, fantastic models and i like how frigates and corvettes are nimble (especially after having played all other mods which ships movement are really heavy as in the real game).
Now (after next release) UNSC will be quite complete right?
Ah, and Beghins probably can forget to have a nice mode as yours.
"Now (after next release) UNSC will be quite complete right?"
There will be a lot of stuff left out due to lack of moddler, since Velo is leaving the team after the Thanatos. This means there won't be a Supercarrier, Mako, Gorgon, Atlas, SMAC or Rapier. The UNSC will be finished somewhat, but not the extent we would like it to be.
Covenant is a different story, as we don't have a specific model style for them, they will probably be adopted from other mods.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO
well wicked!
Okay, I _really_ like this concept. Maybe there's too many slopes for it to fit in perfectly with the rest of the UNSC lineup but I DON'T CARE.
It should fit when it's in game. Just think of it as one of the UNSC's newest toys before the war started, where they were trying to develop more expensive, more capable single small ships that could easily operate independently. When the war started the focus shifted towards cheaper mass produced ships that were only effective in fleet combat like the frigate.
It's still tougher than other small ships and more flexible, but it's also more costly. It's the kind of ship you want to use for patrolling supply lanes rather than for bulking up your main fleet unless you've for RU to throw away.
With the bid turret coming out of the front it kid of reminds me of this:
En.wikipedia.org(LCS-2)
Yeah, i was going for the deck gun look with it. It's currently on the cruisers but none of the smaller ships mount them yet.
But does it have just two 50 MM autogun apart from forward deck gun?
Or is it just to make it look better in the concept?
But i dont see other parts to place them if not on the main bridge...
Maybe some below or near the engine protections like Orthrus-Class Destroyer?
Gun placements in concepts are never final. If you look at the Talos, it had many different guns on it in the concept, but in-game the guns are far different.
Looks like UNSC Heart of Midlothian or the destroyer Keyes piloted before Reach!
That's what it's meant to be :)
