Half-Life Havoc is a mod for Half-Life 2 centred around physics. The objective is to create a middle ground between Half-Life 2 and Garry's Mod. The idea is to take the constrained physics play present in Half-Life 2 and combine it with the lack of urgency present in Garry's Mod. You are presented with a number of premade physics games or puzzles, but each one is designed to encourage free play within the given puzzle. The mod makes use of Valve's developer commentary system so with developer commentary mode enabled you are able to hear explanations of the physics and the games. This allows you to experience the Half-Life 2 engine's physics system and explicitly consider the physics, rather than playing the game with the physics in the background.

That's right!

It's up here

Gamecareerguide is the sister site to Gamasutra. They focus on student projects and getting into the industry.

It's almost the same as the essay up on the HLHmod site, but we reworked a few things taking into account some of the comments we received from all you lovely people!

Cheers!

I enjoyed playing this mod, you explained how physics works in half-life 2 (i didn't understand everything, i'm french and not very good at listening comprehension). But it was still really fun, playing with source physics is really fun. I loved messing with the dominos.

I would recommend this mod for people that don't fully understand Source's physics, or just want some quick fun.

This mod is cool, and it explains more about the physics of half life 2, by doing tests. It was pretty fun but got boring after i finished all the tests. I had a problem where i had to change the use and the reload key back to default (or just press the default button on the controls menu in the options).
i give it a 6/10

Gmod already exists, and it's way better than anything I would make. It would be really cool to have some commentary for how Gmod works, though.

I love it but It would be great if we could play around with that bathtub filled with water ect.

That was something I really wanted to do, but the water's actually just a rectangle that looks water-like, and it's all mashed into the tub. If you look at the tub from any other angle you can see that the water doesn't actually fill it by volume, it's just a watery rectangle sitting awkwardly in the tub.
