New Update Available - Toner Puzzles, Game Launcher, New Interactions and more! news - Half-Life Alyx NoVR mod for Half-Life: Alyx

We are back with another major update to Half-Life Alyx No-VR! The only released mod that allows you to finish Half-Life Alyx from start to finish without VR with as many gameplay mechanics brought over from the original VR version. One of these gameplayer mechanics we are proud to have started to implement are the Toner Puzzles! Not all of them have been implemented in the game, but the first few have! In the spirit of our mod always releasing updates so we can get immediate feedback, you can try out the first few Toner Puzzles and let us know what you think! They are laid out in a basic way for now and we plan to make them look more like they do in VR in the future. Here are some behind the scenes looks at them being worked on and implemented:

We know many folks have trouble installing the mod despite being the easiest one to install out there, plus it isn't easy keeping up with updates! So we have created a launcher that allows you to update to the latest version with ease and launch the game. Don't worry, we will continue to always post our downloads here on ModDB and the Git which is updated daily!

The launcher also has beautiful animated backgrounds that we are hoping to implement in game as well for a new main menu system that lends itself more to the flatscreen experience. If these menus look familiar it is because the one and only Half-Peeps is now contributing to the GB_2 Development Team and our work on this mod!

Here is the video they released of these Half-Life 2 style menus in Half-Life Alyx. They will be continuing to work with us to get these working as we develop the new in game menu.

We added a Alyx like HUD a few weeks ago and we continue to adjust it with the amazing feedback we get from our thousands of players daily! We cannot thank you all enough for this amazing development relationship we have developed. We continue to release our updates on a daily basis so our players don't have to wait to test things out and we can make the adjustments from the feedback we get as we develop. Thank you to all our players for your valuable feedback and suggestions. Some of these HUD updates includes new fonts for subtitles and other HUD elements, a new dot reticle for aiming that is less intrusive than the previous cross reticle and other adjustments!

The most requested feature has been proper viewmodels for Alyx's hands, arms and weapons. Don't worry, they are being worked on and have been for weeks! However, this is a large undertaking and won't release soon but we wanted to at least give you a sneak peak, so here is Alyx using her pistol in the starting training area with Russell. It is a behind the scenes look and does not represent the final version, but we wanted to give a sneak peak to all our fans!
