Today our team is proud to launch the first of many animation updates for Half-Life Alyx No-VR. This is the largest of any of the animation updates as we add Alyx's arms, hands and proper gun viewmodels to the first person perspective. Along with many game-wide updates, bug fixes and improvements!
Animation Update Details
So what does the update include? We have full patch notes located here if you want all the very specific details of what the update adds. Here is a brief overview:
- Alyx's arms and hands fully modelled and animated
- Weapon firing animations for all 3 weapons
- Weapon idle animations for all 3 weapons
- Reload & draw animations for all 3 weapons
- Upgrades for all 3 weapons
- Visually see each upgrade as you add each one using the Resin you find
- Updated HUD with animated hearts (feature not available on Steam Deck)
- Bug fixes and other updates game wide
- Updates to various enemy/boss encounters for a smoother experience
- Multi-tool (can be equipped and is animated but currently not functional)

Installation
Install the official launcher for easy updates.
You can also get the NoVR Map Edits addon for smoother traversal and less out of bounds glitches.
Controls
To change the controls/rebind buttons, edit game\hlvr\scripts\vscripts\bindings.lua in your main Half-Life: Alyx installation folder.
If you get stuck try to move back or crouch! In case that does not help you can enable noclip with V.
Keyboard and Mouse
Left Click: Select in Main Menu/Throw Held Object/Primary Attack
W, A, S, D: Move
Space: Jump
Ctrl: Crouch
Shift: Sprint
E: Interact/Pick Up Object
T: Inspect Weapon
F: Flashlight (if you have it)
H: Cover your mouth
F5: Quick Save
F9: Quick Load
M: Main Menu
P: Pause
V: Noclip (if you get stuck)
C: Console

Old installation method
If the launcher doesn't work, then you can try the old installation method:
Copy the game folder into your main Half-Life: Alyx installation folder (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life Alyx
Then start the game with the launch options -novr -vsync +vr_enable_fake_vr 1

How to disable flickering menu? i cant press anything
This is an issue with some AMD cards. We are working on a fix, you can select items in the Menu still it will just be a bit more difficult.
After you load into the game, go back into the Menu by pressing M and it should be fixed.

Try reinstalling the mod, unsure how that is happening. If you are trying to continue from a previous VR save they do not work and you have to start a new game.

You can change the FOV and more in the bindings.lua file in the scripts folder. Pockets have been disabled as they were causing soft locks as batteries were getting stuck. So we disabled them for now as we fix them!

Hopefully soon we will have them all! We got one more working with this update with about 5 left to fix!
Can you make C the default crouch button instead of CTRL?
You can change any of the bindings with the bindings.lua file in the scripts folder!

Amigos gostaria de saber se é possivel configurar os botoes para um controle de xbox 360? Tem algum programa separado ou algum arquivo de tro do jogo para editar isso?
Doing my best to understand, but you can use an Xbox 360 controller by adding it via Steam and using the built in Steam controller configuration tool to bind the keyboard layout to what you want on the controller.
We have an official Steam Deck layout for the mod on Steam that you could use to start with and adjust from there.
So we need to install the Script Update 9 also or is it included on this download too?
