HOW DO I SETUP THE MOD?

Now first off you will need a copy of the game purchased through Steam. Then download the latest version of Half-Life: Alyx NoVR Launcher from GitHub.
If you use a Steam Deck or Linux, you will need to follow the separate instructions below instead.
Windows
Download the latest release and extract the files into a new empty folder.
Open the HLA-NoVR-Launcher.exe in the extracted folder.
Steam Deck/Linux
Make sure you have the program xdotool installed.
Download the latest release and extract the files into a new empty folder.
Execute bin/HLA-NoVR-Launcher-Linux in the extracted folder (do not use Wine or Proton for the Launcher, but the game itself should be installed with Proton enabled).
Important Information
In case you need to select a folder after clicking "Play" in the launcher, select your Half-Life: Alyx installation folder (the one with the folder game and content inside)
Only official copies of the game bought on Steam are supported.

HOW DO I INSTALL THE MOD ON STEAM DECK/LINUX MANUALLY IF I HAVE ISSUES WITH THE LAUNCHER?

To Install the mod for Steam Deck/Linux, first download the files from here.
Once downloaded, extract everything to a temporary folder and simply copy the “game” folder to the folder where you have installed Half-Life: Alyx through Steam (Proton version, not native). Then simply add these launch options to the game's properties on Steam:
-novr -vsync +vr_enable_fake_vr 1
Then start the game!

HOW DO I CHANGE THE RESOLUTION OR OPEN THE CONSOLE?

If you want to add access to the console and setup the game to whatever resolution you desire add these custom launch options/change them at the bottom of the launcher:
-console -vconsole -w 3840 -h 2160
The console can be opened with the C key by default.

WHAT ARE THE CONTROLS?

The launcher adds an easy options menu to the game, so just review them in there.
On Steam Deck/Linux, to change the controls, rebind buttons, change the FOV and more, edit the bindings.lua file found here:
game\hlvr\scripts\vscripts\bindings.lua
in your main Half-Life: Alyx installation folder.

Left Mouse Button: Select in Main Menu/Throw Held Object/Primary Attack
W, A, S, D: Move
Space: Jump
Ctrl: Crouch

What are the system requirements for the mod?
Half-Life Alyx NoVR's requirements are the same as the base game for Half-Life Alyx. Any mid to high end gaming PC will run it easily, these specs are a bit higher than what you will actually need since the game is not running in stereoscopic 3D for VR, and therefore much less demanding.
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 10/11 or Linux/Steam OS/Steam Deck
Processor: Core i5-7500 / Ryzen 5 1600
Memory: 12 GB RAM
Graphics: GTX 1060 / RX 580 - 6GB VRAM

The mod can be played with keyboard and mouse or with a controller. With a Steam Deck you can play it in handheld mode or connected to your 4K TV or a monitor and playable with a keyboard and mouse or controller as well.

New issue: Custom launcher doesn't open and talks about missing files, that are just not missing. Launcher might be unable to read said files? I don't know. I'm told by the launcher that the issue will fix itself if I just redownload it. I've done that several times for both the Mod and the base game. Still nothing. Verify game cache? Still nothing. I don't know what to do.
Help.

another question: i´d really like to use a blood mod but it seems no-vr doesnt allow. any solution?
I can get the mod to run well enough, but, for some reason, I can't store grenades. Can't use them at all, in fact. Still, this is a great mod all the same, as I had been really wanting to try Alyx for a long time, but I can't do VR so, well done! :)

For whatever inane reason, the launcher deletes itself the second time it's opened after extracting the downloaded folder. This has happened three times without fail. Additionally, the 7za software got flagged by my anti-virus software because it was "attempting to alter or delete" one of the LICENSE text files.

I cannot progress due to some weird issue with opening of canisters with multi-tool. I can see some red and blue dots, but canister is not opening and my arms are stucked. I cannot remove power unit from cannister and progress further. Is there any way of fixing it? Thanks.
HI, AFTER UPDATE IS PROBLEM WITH THE SCANNER ON THE WALL. ANYBODY SORT THAT PROBLEM? MANY PEOPLE IS STRUGGLING WITH THAT SO PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW IT WORKS. I'M STOCK IN CHAPTER 2 I CAN'T SCAN MACHINE ON THE WALL.
I HAVE A KINDA WORKAROUND, USING THE CONSOLE YOU CAN LOAD INTO THE STARTING MAP OF THE GAME.L OFC IDK IF YOULL BE ABLE TO LOAD SAVE FILES BUT I JUST CANNOT GET MY MOUSE TO CLICK THE MAIN MENU BUTTONS.

Hi to everyone who faced with *Main menu stuck*. That's my steps to solve it.
1. Go to the folder in main directory on this way: "game\hlvr\cfg"
2. Open "video.txt"
3. On string "setting.fullscreen" and "setting.mat_vsync" set the value to "1" (This should remove cursor flicker)
4. Run the game, hover over the desired menu bar and press "E"

I'm a huge fan of the Half-Life series, and have been dying to play this game since it was announced all the way back in late 2019, but just never had the money for a VR headset. Although this is still quite buggy at times, I've had nothing short of a fantastic time playing through the story. Absolutely legendary mod, thank you so much for doing this.

Ich kann die erste box mit dem Zylinder, im ersten Level wo der den Tunnel geöffnet wird, nicht öffnen. Drücke ich den (rot/weißen) Knopf so macht die Box einen laserstrahl, zeigt die Laser Kugel und dann steht das Bild und es werden 6 rote punkte und ein blauer angezeigt. hundert mal probiert aber er friert immer wieder das Bild ein. Ich komme nicht dazu den ZYLINTER herauszunehmen und in die Maschine einzusetzen, die nach allen Einstellungen den Tunnel öffnet. Habe mit einer älteren Version SCHON MAL DURCHGESPIELT war super. aber diese sieht besser aus aber sie hat technische Probleme. Mein PC hat höchste Funktionen und das laden geht sehr schnell die Grafik ist spitze und es läuft bis zu diesem punkt alles super.
