New Update Available Now! New HUD and more! news - Half-Life Alyx NoVR mod for Half-Life: Alyx

We continue to work hard daily to update Half-Life Alyx NoVR as we work towards the 1.00 release. Today we have another update for our players and some sneak peaks at things to come! We couldn't do this without our thousands of players and their invaluable feedback. We will continue to use feedback and suggestions to improve the game beyond what we set out with our development roadmap recently.

Here is what has been added with this update:

• New Half-Life Alyx inspired HUD that now replaced the temporary Half-Life 2 HUD as seen in the two screenshots below:

• More ladders have been updated with a new animation instead of the teleport, not all have been updated but more ladders will be updated like this with every update
• Fixed issue with the barnacle holding the crank wheel with its tongue forever and not letting go even after the barnacle is dead
• Adjusted the shotgun puzzle by making the wheel easier to use
• Smoother interactions added with drawers
• Better title size
• Fixed bloaters not working properly
• Inverted mouse support added
• Control rebinding added - see installation instructions for details
• Slowed down the grenade throw
• Easier crank wheel pick up and use
• Quicksave tutorial added
• Bigger subtitles for easier legibility at higher resolutions
• Chapter 7 - Jeff polish for better interactions with Jeff
• Added various dialog that was not triggering such as when Alyx picks up a Floppy Disk for the first time

As many of you already know, but for those who do not, Half-Life Alyx NoVR fully supported on the Steam Deck! Many amazing channels have checked us out such as Deck Wizard and Steam Deck Gaming!

Steam Deck Gaming also took a look at our mod! Along with that they have given us a spot on their website to regularly update details about the mod.

A small side project that our Steam Deck version lead is also working on is motion controls for Half-Life Alyx NoVR using the Sony Playstation Dual Sense controller via Steam and on a Steam Deck connected to a 4K set. This is extremely early in development but we wanted to share a sneak peak of this optional feature.

So far we have gyro aiming working to aim precisely with weapon, look in drawers easier and more. Along with the ability to use the motion functions to grab items from afar with the gravity gloves. This is all still very early and of course will be optional when it is released in a future update. These additional control options helps still provide that tactile feel that VR provides but while still on a flatscreen.
