TO USE THIS MOD WITH PLUGY YOU HAVE TO DO THIS: Imgur.com

In the destiny path, press space bar where the " ends and add -direct -txt. The "3dfx" is because i use Glide Wrapper. If you play without Plugy you have to do the same. REMEMBER TO PASTE THE DATA FOLDER IN YOUR DIABLO II FOLDER, IT DOESN'T EXIST THERE BY DEFAULT UNLESS YOU HAVE ANOTHER MODS.

I spent about a month to make this mod and i'm happy with the result, the goal was to make every mercenary worth having and at the same time keeping things as balanced as possible. Now every class has at least 3 subtypes, for example Rogue now has Fire Arrow, Cold Arrow and Combat, Iron Wolves have 4 subtypes: Lightning, Ice, Fire and Combat, Desert Mercenary like the base game have Offensive, Combat and Defensive, Barbarians have 3 subtypes: Offensive, Defensive and Combat.

Every hireling has at least one passive skill.

These hirelings will adapt to almost every build, i tried my best to do this but maybe there is some hireling that doesn't adapt to them

A problem that vanilla Diablo II had was that hirelings actually were weaker as you progressed in difficulties, this no longer happens because now Hell hirelings are the strongest. Another problem i had was that the only useful hireling was the Desert mercenary because of auras, and the third problem i had was that the mercenary's equipment options were a bit limited, now it's almost as your character's.

Skills changes list:

Zeal: Now does a bit more damage per lvl.

Vengeance: Added a cut overlay (See it here) used on hit, also It plays a sound on hit (Fist of Heavens Sound).

Guided Arrow: Now works with Pierce (Like it did in the past).

Multiple Arrow: Now does more damage.

Chilling Armor: Bolt now does more damage.

Lightning Bolt: Now is a good choice at high levels.

Blaze: Does more fire damage.

Teeth: Now does more damage.

Holy Fire: Now it's on par with Holy Shock, still Holy Shock it's better.

Frost Nova and Nova: Now are powerful choices.

Impale: Now it doesn't have the chance to deteriorate your weapon.

Hireling skills list:

Rogue - Fire (Normal): Fire Arrow, Critical Strike, Amplify Damage, Might.

Rogue - Fire (Nightmare): Fire Arrow, Exploding Arrow, Critical Strike, Amplify Damage, Fanaticism.

Rogue - Fire (Hell): Immolation Arrow, Exploding Arrow, Critical Strike, Amplify Damage, Holy Fire.

Rogue - Combat (Nightmare): Multiple Shot, Magic Arrow, Guided Arrow, Pierce, Lower Resist, Salvation.

Rogue - Combat (Hell): Multiple Shot, Strafe, Guided Arrow, Pierce, Life Tap, Conviction.

Iron Wolf - Cold (Hell): Frozen Orb, Blizzard, Frost Nova, Chilling Armor, Cold Mastery, Defiance.

*Note*: Fire - Offensive, Cold - Defensive Lightning - Crowd Combat - Hybrid. Do note that in hell difficulty they will be hard to pull off since there's always an inmune Monster, use Conviction or Lower Resist!

Barbarian - Offensive (Normal): Bash, Concentrate, Increased Speed, Battle Orders, Concentration, Axe Mastery.

Barbarian - Offensive (Nightmare): Frenzy, Berserk, Iron Skin, Battle Orders, Holy Shock, Axe Mastery.

Barbarian - Offensive (Hell): Frenzy, Berserk, Iron Skin, Battle Command, Fanaticism, Axe Mastery.

Barbarian - Combat (Nightmare): Concentrate, Double Swing, Critical Strike, War Cry, Thorns, Sword Mastery.

Barbarian - Combat (Hell): Vengeance, Double Swing, Critical Strike, War Cry, Holy Freeze, Sword Mastery.

*Note*: They work as tanks (As they did in vanilla but better.)

I tested everything and it should work fine, i used it in conjuntion with Enjoy SP - Mod and Plugy,. I recommend that you download this mods and play with them, they are worth it. Another minor changes are that now every hireling has a better appereance. For example, Rogue now has a Skull cap, Studded leather armor and shoulder pads and a long bow, Desert Mercenary has got a kind of Skull cap, Full Chain mail and has got a new spear, Iron Wolf now has a golden chest plate, Corona, and a Kite Shield and Barbarian now has a heavy chest plate and shoulders pads, great helm and a great sword. This were in the game files but were not fully implemented so i edited some txt's and worked.

Note: This mod is only usable with the -direct - txt method, it will not work with D2SE. Tested only in Version 1.13c, im not sure if it will work 1.14d or so. Also, i added an expanded character inventory and expanded cube for quality of life purposes.

Known bugs: Actually is not a bug but a problem of the game, when you start a new character and you recruit your first hireling, this will not use certain skills until they reach the level they need to use it. For example some auras are usable when you reach level 5, so if this hireling doesn't have level 5 yet it will not be able to use it.

If you hire an Act 5 barb, they will show the axe wielding one and not the sword wielder. To fix this just save and exit and enter again, this should fix it. The only one who uses axes is the offensive one.

1.1 changelist: Offensive Barbarian now uses axes, added Axe Mastery and Iron Skin to Offensive ones and Sword Mastery to Deffensive ones.

Vengeance now displays an unused overlay on hit and sound (Fist of Heavens sound).

Added Diablo 1 music to certain locations to make the mod feel unique.

1.2 changelist: Added Combat Barbarian, restored hireling running animations because they looked kinda bad walking at high speeds, some skill changes to hirelings for balance purposes, fixed act 5 hell barbarian bug, reduced their skill levels by five.

1.4 changelist: Changed some skills, better ranged mercenary ai. Now axe barbarians can equip two handed axes, the problem is that... every mercenary can equip axes now because the equipping of certain weapons on them are hardcoded and i don't know how to change this, so try to not give anyone axes and it should be fine.

1.5 changelist: Changed a lot of mercenary skills (See the skills tab), Changed main menu to look like classic Diablo II (credits to Diablo II beta mod), added Diablo Hellfire soundtracks to certain places, Some Diablo 1 item sounds were added, now Strafe and Impale don't play Amazon's shout when used by mercenaries, removed Impale durability effect because it affected the Offensive Desert Mercenary's weapon, fixed Combat Barbarian spamming shouts.

Shoutout to: Firelings creator for inspiring me in making this mod.

Can you please tell me what each of the files in the data folder are linked to change wise? I plan to use this mod but it has changes to so many txt files that are already in my data folder so I wanted to just have the mercinaries have the same as my character for what you could place on them. How would I do this? and also regarding the other txt files what do each of the correlate to change wise that you have made?

If you have D2SE Modmanager installed, then e.g.
...\Diablo II\MODS\X
X - name the folder for example GuildTMO
In it copy your mod file, renamed as patch_d2.mpq of course.
From ...\Diablo II\D2SE\CORES\1.13c you can copy D2SE_SETUP.ini in GuildTMO folder, in ini file under #Modnames change a bit about your mod, just read and you will see what I'm talking about.
You can also copy D2SE setup ini file from other mods and see what is different e.g. The forces of darkness has nice and detailed ini file. Copy in GuildTMO folder latest plugy dll and ini file.
So what you will have in this folder that is what you should provide as D2SE version ...\Diablo II\MODS\GuildTMO:
D2SE_SETUP.ini
patch_d2.mpq
PlugY.dll
PlugY.ini
GuildTMO.bmp - you can see about this in d2se setup ini file, "#Filename of a 250*60 Buttonimage in BMP format! keep the outer 1 pixel border black! used for Modselection".

Run through D2SE.exe from game folder.

That should be that.

Hello, the act 5 Barbarians can't seem to equip anything other than a 1 handed axes. I tried either of the sword barbarians but they aren't able to use 2 handed swords.

You can fix that by saving and exit the game. The only one that can wield axes are the offensive barb.
