Since the 2020 Retail launch the 2011 release was renamed to: G STRING - BETA and in the future the G STRING - ULTIMATE EDITION is coming. Also don't be confused about the "Developer: LunchHouse Software" part. This is the G String Beta you are looking for, the one made by Eyaura. The display was changed because LunchHouse helped me a lot in publishing the game and this will help us both in promoting our work. Which reminds me: they're making PUNT! Go check it out! Since there is no way to list this on MODDB like on Steam (Developer: Eyaura, Publisher: LunchHouse Software) this is the best solution. Thanks and have fun!

First, If this is intended as a Demo is even close of how the final product will be, I have to say, Hunt Down the Freeman looks better, that should tell you how bad is this. If I have to make a purchase decision from this, this is a big no.

Right of the start, I don't know the specific of the game controls. There is a tutorial that explains something as basic as movement, not like any game iliterate would be installing mods from here, but when it comes to specific keys of this mod, no fucking clue. I found out that pressing X does something, don't know what yet, some sparks, checked out the setting to see what X was bound to, but nothing, nada. Just standard HL 2 Key bindings. README file it's just a Word Document with a copy paste of the site, no info on nothing. At the end, I'm trying to play this mod, a man is telling me to burn him, he swears I can, I don't really know how or what key is bound.

Level design it's just confusing, to little details like the door I need to open with a keycard not saying that I need a keycard but all other doors in the apartment that I don't need to open does say that, unless I specifically aim to the door knob which is weird, because everybody looks at the door knob to open doors in games, even less that 5 minutes in a lets play will tell you that. The keykard requires some exploration which is not bad, but the stairs to the attic are so steep and so poorly illuminated that I thought that it was a wall.

Then, you exit the apartment, the way forward leads... nowhere. You have to climb a set of boxes, using a small border, that looks more like something that you couldn't climb, a border so small I hardly notice, you have to exploit the level geometry to be able to continue. Because the big garage like door with the bike and all the red lasers felt more like a way forward that a pile of boxes, damn, even the double door at the end of the dead end hallway looked more like a way to continue the level than the boxes. The game, really needs to communicate better with the player, either by being blatantly obvious and annoying or valve style, with those subtle details that guide us without us really knowing, following a flow that feels like common sense, using light, sfx and the architecture layout to guide the player instead of blinding them.

A lot of times it's hard to know the way forward, visuals doesn't help at all, some times is hard to know where you have to go when you don't even know that you could go through there.

Visually, this is a cluster fuck, the amount of post processing is horrendous and makes everything hard to see. But behind that, some environments manage to look really nice, but most of them from far away only, from up close most textures look really blurry, material looks really messed and places look lifeless, like, there is nothing happening there.

In short, nice mod but as the Retail Product it want to be, this just sucks and needs a lot of polish and play testing. It could be a great game, but it's really far from it.

I almost forgot about 2 details, dream sequences, really bad, visually, mostly visually. And the spooky attempt, that come so out of nowhere that I almost missed it. It's hard to spook someone when they have a gun. Also, about guns, they sound weak af. I have heard toy guns sounding more intimidating than the ones from this game.
