This little project is a follow up to a map I made back in 2001 called Freeman's Escape. It was very short and plain and was originally reviewed on Tenfourmaps. During the pandemic I got back into mapping for HL1 and this is the result. I thought I'd re-do my whole idea from scratch and pack it full of details this time. The result is a short but sweet 3-map HL1 adventure that plays off the alternative-timeline concept of Gordon Freeman having somehow escaped the G-Man's forced offer of employment and teleported back to the outskirts of Black Mesa, where he must run, think and shoot his way to freedom. It's almost done and ready for release. I started building this just for fun and my own enjoyment but now I feel it would be a shame not to share it. I hope you have as much fun playing it as I did building it.

A lovely remaster of a classic.

Pro:

+Smooth gameplay.

+Some NPC scripts in use

+Lovely crafted environment.

Contra:

-Enemies waiting behind every corner. Some movement scripting could've enhanced it a bit more.

-Flat cliffs which ruined the immersion of another wise good looking environment.

-Sometimes enemies are like 10 meters apart from you but still don't appear to see you despite looking at you. Increase the map visibility settings in JACK and compile the maps anew and that should fix that issue.

Conclusion: While not perfect it was a neat little package that shouldn't take you longer than 10 to 15 minutes to beat. It's pretty much a map pack like they all were in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Go and play it if you feel for some nostalgia.

Holy Cow, I played Freeman's escape back in the day, around 2001. So I'm browsing the HL1 mods page and I see Freeman's Escape 2, 1 day after release!. Serendipity! Just downloaded it, Can't wait to try it tomorrow! Thanks for making this.
