This vessel is an Lone Patrol Combatant (LPC) designed for work as a patrol/garrison reserve vessel. It is somewhat larger than a frigate, but not designable as a light cruiser; but fulfills a unique role.
The amount of armament she carries is akin to a heavy frigate, and she is almost as large as a light cruiser, but her weapons are geared towards patrol combat; they are mainly light weapons with focus on anti-fighter and corvette duty, with only small amounts of heavier weaponry. Though cheaper than a Heavy Frigate or a Light Cruiser, she does however suffer from weaknesses; her shields are quite weak for a vessel of her size and her armaments are not designed for dedicated battle work, but her role makes allowances; she has a workable fighter complement to assist her in her duties, and is faster than most vessels of her size with a strong hyperdrive.

Here she is seen fighting two pesky Corellian Corvettes and also firing her defensive AFLs at incoming fighters (off-screen).
