Forgotten Hope 2 is an award-winning World War II modification for Battlefield 2TM and is based on the original Forgotten Hope, a modification for Battlefield 1942TM, one of the most popular multiplayer games ever. Battlefield 1942TM featured land, sea and air combat in a way never before seen. It was the goal of the development team to maximize the game experience by adding both a realistic and enjoyable gameplay to FH and now to FH2.

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. Today we have quite a bunch of new renders and screenshots for you, but first we would like to officially welcome Otolikos to our development team. We have already shown Otolikos's map Tunis a few weeks ago, but last week he became an official dev.

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. Today we have quite a bunch of new renders and screenshots for you, but first we would like to officially welcome Otolikos to our development team. We have already shown Otolikos's map Tunis a few weeks ago, but last week he became an official dev.

The first render for today is one of the Grappling hooks we spoke about in the Mod DB interview. This British grappling hook was modeled, skinned and coded by ctz.

You will be able to find this grappling hook in special commando kits, which are usually limited to one per team and only appear on certain maps. You can use it to climb onto objects that are out of reach for other soldiers to gain excellent outflanking positions. Although only the person with the special kit can throw and pick up the hook, once it's in place, anyone can use it to climb up and down.

Next up are renders of the famous M1 Garand, by Seth Soldier and Winchester Model 12 trench gun, by Lobo.

The M1 Garand is probably one of the most famous allied weapons of World War 2. With over 5.4 million produced this is no surpise, but it was also the main rifle of the US army, where as all other nations only used semi-automatic rifles as a supplement to their main bolt-action rifles. It was designed in 1932 and officially adopted by the US military in 1936, but it wasn't until 1941 that the entire army could be equipped with them. As the war was raging on in Europe, sufficient numbers of M1s had to be produced and in early 1940 as many as 600 rifles could leave the factory in a single day. The M1 Garand used .30-06 rounds in 8 round clips and had an effective range of 500 yards.

The Winchester Model 1912 "Trench Gun" had proved extremely effective in the First World War at clearing out trenches. In the Second World War it was a lot less effective, as the ranges at which the combat took place were a lot larger. Nevertheless, The Winchester M12 still saw extensive action in the Pacific, where combat ranges were a lot closer than in Europe. Although in small numbers, the M12 was used in Europe, but mainly by military police.

Finally, we have some in game screenshots of the Focke Wulf 190 and Fieseler Storch 156, of which we showed the renders in previous updates.

That's all for this week, but be sure to come back next time for another update. Until then, feel free to visit our IRC channel and our public forums to discuss this update and other news.

I will second that, all of the models, textures and maps must be done by a rogue commercial house pretending to be a modding team!... lol... I just want to know, how many job offers you guys have turned down so far? Come on, make us all feel like a lost tribe of noobians... lol.. excellent work guys, as always, pro to be sure...

Iron dedication of a select group of talents with robotic accuracy, the endless stream of quality assets is putting any commercial ww2 fps to shame(frankly the rest of moddb too!) A weekly joy to watch your updates, great job.

Love the activeness of the mod right now but I just need to make one thing clear,

Do not underpower the M1 Garand.

Far too many games and mods "balance" the M1 by making it less lethal than the opposing sides rifle or less accurate. I'm just being paranoid I guess but far too many times I have found myself in situations where my M1 Garand didn't drop someone like it should then someone with a smaller bullet killed me. (I'm looking at you DODS)

But I trust you guys.

i dont think any commercial team puts this much effort into a game tbh. therefore they must be modders!
